I'm playing on a ps4 and i everytime i try to ult as pathfinder, i grapple. I tried timing the button combination better but it didn't help.
Ps: I have customized my button layout so that my ultimate activates when i press L2 + ∆, instead of the default L1+R1
I think that the problem is tightly related to input timing, since i if i barely tap my left trigger button while holding triangle (the ping button) i sometimes nail it. When the grapple is on cooldown, i noticed that, when i try to ult, the sound that warns me that i cant use the grapple plays twice.
