Octane passive healing glitch
Octane Swift Mend Stops ~5 HP Below Full Health
Platform: Xbox
Legend: Octane
Location tested: Firing Range and normal matches
Date discovered: August 11, 2026
Description
I believe I may have found a bug with Octane’s Swift Mend passive.
When Octane takes damage, Swift Mend begins regenerating his health normally. However, the regeneration consistently stops at approximately 5 HP below maximum health. It happens at the exact same point every time instead of eventually reaching full health.
Steps to reproduce
- Select Octane.
- Enter the Firing Range.
- Take damage until health is significantly below maximum.
- Do not use a Syringe, Med Kit, or other healing item.
- Wait for Swift Mend to regenerate health.
- The health regeneration eventually stops at the same ~5 HP below maximum.
I repeated the test and the health stopped at the same point each time.
Troubleshooting
- Restarted Apex Legends — issue remained.
- Completely restarted my Xbox — issue remained.
- Tested in the Firing Range — issue still occurs.
- The issue happens consistently rather than randomly.
Additional information
I played Octane normally the day before this happened, and his passive was healing to full health at that time.
On August 11, I downloaded an approximately 1 GB Apex Legends update. After the update, I noticed this issue.
Because the problem appeared immediately after the update and can be reproduced consistently in the Firing Range, I suspect there may be an issue with Swift Mend’s health-scaling calculation or the health regeneration near maximum health.
I don’t know if this is affecting other players, but I wanted to report it in case it is a new regression.
Expected behavior: Swift Mend should continue regenerating Octane’s health until he reaches full health.
Actual behavior: Swift Mend consistently stops approximately 5 HP below full health.
