Switch 2: gyro deadzone and drift bug

The gyro on switch 2 has a huge deadzone when aiming with scopes 3x or over. This makes fine adjustments impossible. Not only that but when going from outside-deadzone movement to fine movement (inside-deadzone) the movement drifts either straight vertically or straight horizontally for a bit, even if I completely stop moving. There are no motion controls deadzone sliders in the settings to fix this.

Attachment shows a little bit of this in action. It's a little hard to see my physical movement of the switch 2 because of lighting, but I think it's still visible. It feels a lot worse than it seems on the video though.

This makes precise sniping impossible with motion controls imo

Firstly: I love Switch 2 version of Apex! It's running very good and looks amazing. Excellent job!

Gyro aiming could indeed have separate setting for adjust gyro deadzones, and even eliminate it completely if we choose to do so. Make it adjustable (0 to 10) and it will be perfect.

This "aim drifting" is maybe some kinda auto-calibration feature? Like aim is calibrating itself in a certain way. I don't know why it's there, but it can be harmful for precise aiming, like Ottalaus_saus said here. It feels like I have to fight against my aim and I miss my G7 and 30-30 shots in the process. Would it be viable to give us option to turn this "gyro aim calibration" completely off? Again, I am not sure if it is indeed calibration, but it looks like it.

Thank you for amazing Switch 2 version and please consider to include these fixes/options for us who love to use gyro aiming feature ❤️

  • I am a Splatoon 3 player and I'm seeing the same thing. This bug makes it entirely impossible to play for me, so I hope they fix this! And for clarity, Splatoon works perfectly fine using the same controller, and I see this bug both with my Pro Controller 2 and with the joy-cons in handheld mode.

I doubt Devs care a single bit about fixing that bug, otherwise they would have added a dead zone slider along with the update that added how long it would take for the joycon to switch between mouse mode and controller. They would have addressed the Gyro issue as well but they chose not to. On top of that the Vibration settings for the New Pro Controller are insanely strong compared to the Old Pro controller, for example: if Im using the old controller, the vibrations are crisp and do not disturb Gyro controls but I use the New Pro Controller, the vibrators go insanely strong where it shakes my screen if I have High sensitivity. They dont care enough because they could have fixed that too along with the Gyro.

The problem is that the inplementarion it's incorrectly

First they need to do gyro to mouse input instead of joystick

The 3DOF to 2D should be as local space to make it work even on handheld mode, aslo would be nice to make an option to change between that and world space and player space

If everyone wants we can try to do some noise on social media to make us hear and they work on fixing this and maybe implementing this on other platform, Im tired of using Steam input to trying to emulate a gyrl correctly
