BF6 Inconsistent ADS behavior – aiming mechanics feel off during firing

Hey everyone,

I’ve been experiencing a consistent issue with the ADS (Aim Down Sights) mechanics that seems to be caused by an underlying aiming or input mechanic interfering with weapon control. Specifically, the problem occurs during horizontal and vertical movement while aiming and shooting simultaneously. The reticle movement feels unstable and doesn’t respond linearly to input, almost as if some kind of dampening or acceleration curve is being applied inconsistently.

This behavior makes it extremely difficult to maintain target tracking in ADS while firing. In most shooters, you can easily follow your target and compensate for recoil once you understand the weapon’s spray or recoil pattern. However, in this case, the ADS feels as if it’s fighting against your input — the aim drifts or stutters in a way that prevents precise control.

To rule out hardware issues, I tested my setup in older BF titles and several other FPS titles using the same mouse, DPI, and sensitivity settings. All of them performed flawlessly, so this seems specific to this game.

If there’s a hidden aim smoothing, aim assist overlap, or input latency mechanic affecting ADS behavior during sustained fire, it might be worth reviewing. At the moment, the interaction between recoil, aim adjustment, and player input feels off — almost like the camera or aiming model doesn’t properly account for recoil compensation while moving the crosshair.

Has anyone noticed the same problem?

You are totally right, I have been struggling with this, and it really made me hate the game now :/

I tried changing all the settings and watched every video on YouTube that claimed to fix the issue, but had no luck so far.

    Hopefully they will address this.

  • Perfectly described! This is exactly how it feels when trying to control recoil and track someone's movement at the same time, especially with ARs that have more recoil. I've also tested every possible setting and everything u can basically imagine and I still can't find a solution.

I'm honestly losing my mind over it because most people won't ever notice so it's not getting the attention it deserves in order to get fixed..

I don't think it's an issue with dead zones or anything with the settings. let me start off by saying I remember in 2042 having this same kind of issue. messed with all kinds of settings and come to find out it only happened when you let the quick resume well resume. now fast forward to the beta and all was good for 2 or 3 days and same thing. it has to be a glitch not a settings issue. Again, when I played at 10am on launch day everything was good. played no issues with aim. left Xbox on and game played a couple hours later no issues. turn the Xbox off and have not been able to play since. there is so much input lag that it is unplayable. y'all really to fix this. I'm going to try uninstalling the game and see if that works because no settings fix the issue. hard reset of Xbox didnt fix. cancelling quick resume did nothing. I can't believe more people are not talking about this and I think it has to do with people just changing the settings until its somewhat playable but there is a core issue at work. I would love a reply from the battlefield team if I'm wrong. thanks.

ps uninstalling and reinstalling did nothing. fresh install on a different xbox did nothing. 5 different controllers did nothing. i mean it is unpleasant and unplayable. and as far as ops post mine is not just in ads. its all the time. just running around and sometimes it feels like the acceleration is 1000. idk i knew better then to pre order.

  • I am also experiencing the same issue on PS5. It’s extremely difficult to track a target. You fight yourself at Med-Long distances, and I don’t even know where to begin with the settings. You need a degree to understand what they do and mean.

  • Im having the same issues on ps5. I spend more time in the settings during a match than i do actually playing the game. I deleted the game today i cant do it. I shouldnt have to mess with a bunch of settings just to get a slightly better experience. At default i should be able to naturally do what the game is built to do. Then if i want a more precise experience then i can mess with settings. This is crazy, everytime i get close quarters and aim down sights my aim zipps at like 1,000 mph left and right. Mid range the aim assist is so sticky versus the acceleration the aim assist actually has the opposite effect and then long range it wants to stick to outside of the target and then again if i try to correct it to get on target the acceleration takes me clear away from what i trying to shoot. Then yesterday. When im in a vehicle it now wants to move on its own. So far only happens in tanks. Freaking sucks, my preference of multiplayer is battlefield and have been waiting since bf4 for another bf4 like bf experience and cant even play because its become so frustrating and consuming to figure out the aiming and moving that i have given up. Still dont see EA acknowledging these issues. Got a feeling its gonna be over looked.
