High VRAM Usage, Possible Memory Leak
I noticed that the VRAM usage seems to increase over time during a session on BF6 regardless of the graphics settings used i.e. Low - Overkill. I gave it a test and noted that while setting the graphics to overkill right after launch of the game and prior to loading into a game the VRAM did the following: Started at 8Gb of VRAM usage Increased to 10Gb at the point of the game starting (post loading) Sit at close to 14Gb of VRAM usage in the menu Drop back down to just under 7Gb after I changed it from overkill to another setting and back up to overkill This behaviour seems consistent while playing the game although the values vary but the same increase in VRAM overtime occurs and the longer the play session, the higher the VRAM usage (I've seen it close to the full 16Gb while just in the menu post game). It eventually reaches a point of noticeable stutters, and major FPS decreases whereby it would normally play at 100 - 120 and after some time it would average 60 - 90 regardless of map. I've seen this reported elsewhere such as on Reddit and Steam but I hadn't seen anything on here that I know of so though it may be worth bringing some attention to it. Running a Steam file integrity check after a crash usually finds and redownloads 2–3 files, after which the game may run slightly longer — sometimes up to two hours — before crashing again. This workaround is inconsistent and does not permanently resolve the problem. Players have gone to great lengths — clean Windows installs, BIOS updates, GPU driver rollbacks, memory checks, and even fresh game reinstalls. I asked Steam to take action — just like they did before with The Last of Us, when the game launched in a broken state and Steam allowed refunds outside normal policy. Battlefield 6 is in the same situation: it’s not a finished product and it shouldn’t be sold as one. And here’s the response I got back from Steam Support: They said they recommend developers take moderation seriously and warned that poor moderation decisions can harm the game’s reputation — but they also confirmed that EA fully controls their own community and Steam cannot reverse their bans. The Finals, made by former DICE developers, also uses a kernel-level anti-cheat (Denuvo) that works in a very similar way to EA’s Javelin. So I decided to test a simple theory: if the issue is truly caused by the anti-cheat itself, the game should crash there too. And you won’t believe it — it did. After about an hour and a half of playing, I got the exact same DirectX error as in Battlefield 6. This strongly suggests that the root cause isn’t the Frostbite engine or the game itself, but rather a shared architectural flaw in how next-gen anti-cheats interact with modern GPU and PCIe systems at the kernel level. This also explains why some players reported temporary improvements after updating their BIOS — these updates often include PCI Express behavior fixes, which could slightly change how the system communicates with the GPU under load. A player under my Steam discussion mentioned that after upgrading from an RTX 3080 Ti (PCIe 4.0) to an RTX 5080 (PCIe 5.0), Battlefield began throwing DirectX errors almost instantly. When he reverted back to the 3080 Ti, the crashes disappeared. please fix latency, the lightning , FPS drop and bullet hit missing / hit box , the lightning still pretty horrible can't see anything because of too much bright or too dark delayed massively. latency issue happens during matchs when hots over 70 and make the match unplayable have to leave the match midway then start again. Since then recent patch i have experienced the worst lag i have ever seen in all my time playing this game so far. performance so terrible that it has me convinced sometimes that its merely my hardware, whne it is in fact the servers. ive only ever seen this issue after the recetn update and while i intially thought it was jsut on my end it seems many peers of mine also have the same issue throughout their matches, especially later in teh day and at night. it goes from smooth, to unplayably bad performance. I'm unsure exactly what could be causing this poor connection, but ive had severe latency and packet loss as of late whereas i have never once expiereinced such issues before and it seems to always happen most at night. Haven't seen this particular issue posted yet, but very often I notice either missing audio during a match or it will play 2-3 seconds after an action is performed. For example, I'll go to revive someone with shock paddles that won't play audio, then the audio cue will play about three seconds later. Is this an issue with high CPU usage? Ive noticed during matches alot of my shots not registering resulting in very tiresome games, so Ive went into custom practice lobbies that i host by myself (to avoid Net-code issues) just to test things to see what is happening. Ive noticed with every bolt action, and especially with the newest Sniper, Mini Scout, that when moving and taking a shot, moving very slightly or full on walking, even milli-seconds before fully coming to a stop, even if the bullet hits the target, I see the shot go cleanly through them, I see the blood mist from the hit, but I get no reg. Its identical to the bloom issue where players shot another player, saw blood and impacts, but didn't get any registration not matter how many shots pumped into the opposing player. In the video attached below, I'm using the Scout Mini, with a Short Barrel, Standard Suppressor, Stubby grip, 50 Mw Blue laser (ironically for ADS accuracy WHILE moving), R-VPS 10X scope, Anti-Glare, 10Rnd Fast Mag, and penetration rounds. This also happens to the PSR, and M2010, (I've not tried it on the SV-98) I've been sniping since BfBC2, Bf3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Bf5, BF2042, and this has to be the most handicapped I've ever felt playing recon, I dont doubt this is intentional for whatever lame reason, its not like Snipers in past battlefields have had some insane overpowered loadouts or weapons or did anything that would seriously alter/impact gameplay. But we should absolutely not have to be fully standing still for shots just to register, this is, to put it lightly, absurd. Snipers do not have 800 ROF so each shot needs to matter, and needs to register. We already have scope glint making us bright glowing targets so laying down prone, trying to be stealthy, like actual snipers is how you get one tapped in any Battlefield (except BFBC2 where scope glint wasn't a thing). So we are forced to play on the move, and now you're making it so we have to stand incredibly still for shots to register lol. Many people are experiencing lag and latency when playing BF6 on official servers. Doesn't seem to be a problem on community servers. People experience sliding, rubber banding, bullets not landing etc. See post here which contains a lot of people's experiences. It doesnt appear to be network related as people with wired fibre connections are experiencing it, or CPU/VRAM as people are experiencing the issue with specs that mean that this should not be a problem.
