BF6 is not compatible with rest mode

This bug sucks. Every single time I wake my PS5 from Rest Mode with Battlefield 6 still open, the game reconnects to servers and then freezes on the message “Party Leader Selects Experience.” I’m not in a party. It never recovers — the only fix is to fully close and relaunch the game. It defeats the entire purpose of Rest Mode and makes the game feel broken.

Game Version:

Battlefield 6 (latest live build as of November 2025)

Description:

When resuming Battlefield 6 from PS5 Rest Mode, the game reconnects to online services but freezes on a message saying “Party Leader Selects Experience.” I’m not in a party, but the game acts like I am. Nothing loads, and the only fix is to manually close and reopen the game.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Launch Battlefield 6 on PS5 and connect to online services.
  2. Enter any mode or sit at the main menu.
  3. Put the PS5 into Rest Mode.
  4. Wake the console and resume the game.
  5. The game reconnects but remains stuck on “Party Leader Selects Experience.”

Expected Result:

Game should reconnect cleanly and return to the menu or previous state without showing false party messages.

Actual Result:

Game reconnects partially, displays “Party Leader Selects Experience,” and becomes unresponsive.

Workarounds Tried:

  • Restarting the game (works temporarily)
  • Logging out/in to PSN or EA Account (no effect)
  • Rebuilding PS5 database (no effect)

Impact:

Rest Mode is unusable — players must restart the game every time they wake the console, which wastes time and undermines a core PS5 feature.

Yeah, best thing to do is just close the game off before putting your PS5 or Xbox into its rest/sleep mode. BF6 doesn’t handle resume play properly, but to be fair not many online games do. When the console goes to sleep, it suspends network activity, which drops your connection to the servers. Then when it wakes up, the game tries to reconnect to a session that’s already timed out, which is why it freezes or desyncs.

It’s not really an EA-specific bug it’s more of a console limitation with how rest mode handles active online sessions, so the safest move is just to close the game before putting your system to sleep and save yourself the headache.
