BF6 on PS5 Gameplay Locked

A friend of mine bought BF6 after launch from a retailer, did the install on the Playstation but when he tries to play the only thing he has access to is the firing range. All game modes are locked. We played the beta together when that came out. His PS Plus account is up to date. We have tried multiple things without success.

When he tries to search a game in any mode, it searches on average for 5-10 seconds. His character stands up like its about to load a game but that's as far as it goes. I have added him to my squad hoping i can drag him into a game and the same thing happens. i end up in the game without him

Does anyone have this issue or know how to work around it? No one else i know has this issue.
