High VRAM Usage, Possible Memory Leak

I noticed that the VRAM usage seems to increase over time during a session on BF6 regardless of the graphics settings used i.e. Low - Overkill.

I gave it a test and noted that while setting the graphics to overkill right after launch of the game and prior to loading into a game the VRAM did the following:

  1. Started at 8Gb of VRAM usage
  2. Increased to 10Gb at the point of the game starting (post loading)
  3. Sit at close to 14Gb of VRAM usage in the menu
  4. Drop back down to just under 7Gb after I changed it from overkill to another setting and back up to overkill

This behaviour seems consistent while playing the game although the values vary but the same increase in VRAM overtime occurs and the longer the play session, the higher the VRAM usage (I've seen it close to the full 16Gb while just in the menu post game).

It eventually reaches a point of noticeable stutters, and major FPS decreases whereby it would normally play at 100 - 120 and after some time it would average 60 - 90 regardless of map.

I've seen this reported elsewhere such as on Reddit and Steam but I hadn't seen anything on here that I know of so though it may be worth bringing some attention to it.

Specs tested on the following with up to date drivers:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
  • Memory: 64GB DDR5
  • Storage Type: SSD

Screenshots included from testing (It states custom on 3 screenshots as I had changed the settings back to Overkill within advanced prior rather than the overall setting)

they didnt even read what issue is about XD. Now I have confirmation that it'll never get fixed cuz they dont give a **bleep**, we said multiple times its map specific and there are 4 affected (operation firestorm, empire states, manhattan bridge and blackwell fields) + br mode. Eastwood is running perfectly fine so I have no clue why he talks about this one

Thats because its NOT map specific. You have different people naming different maps each time, yes some may overlap but for the most part its varying maps named. Its an all-round issue, probably nothing to do with maps at all!

Is there a reason neither mod or dev have replied to this topic yet? They've not even acknowledged things in their own forum. They even removed the issue from the Known Issues topic they have stickied.

    Seems a bit suss.

I get that some THINK its a map issue but i've noticed upon starting the game afresh, the VRAM can start creeping up just going through the Challenge menu's or during the insertion menu before you drop into a map. I wonder how many people have checked this before actually jumping into a map and then blaming that? 😉
