Tanks man, i was searching for a report like this..It's pretty bad . It also happens with Jets ! On one server i played, a IFV team just took out every air vehicle one by one the whole match. You couldn't get out of base without dieing instantly..

It also seems that Flares don't work if you got painted and a IFV is firing at you..

I hopped in an IFV to confirm it myself and yeah they 100% ignore flares

Platform: PS5 / PC / Xbox
Game mode: Conquest, Escalation, Large All-Vehicle Maps (likely all maps)
Description: Infantry Fighting Vehicles currently have the ability to engage and destroy air targets (helicopters and jets) with laser-guided missiles without triggering a lock-on warning tone for the target aircraft. As a result, pilots receive no alert and cannot deploy flares, making the attack unavoidable.
This appears to be an unintended mechanic or oversight in how vehicle targeting and missile lock systems interact.
Believed to be a similar issue with Javelin lock-ons and ground vehicles only hearing an incoming missile warning when it’s already in the air (often too late).
Expected Behaviour: Aircraft receives a lock warning and can use flares.
Frequency: Consistent — happens every time the interaction occurs.
Impact: This mechanic effectively removes counterplay for pilots, making IFVs disproportionately powerful against air vehicles. It breaks the intended balance between ground-to-air and air-to-ground interactions. It’s being used as an exploit by some and is making AA tanks obsolete in retrospect.
Possible Cause (Speculative): The IFV’s missile system may be using a “soft lock” or semi-active targeting mode that bypasses the aircraft’s countermeasure detection logic. If so, this could be a data flag or tag issue on the missile type.
Suggestion: Ensure IFV laser-guided missiles trigger the aircraft lock-on warning state. Confirm that countermeasure windows behave consistently across all vehicle missile systems.

This is particular occurs when an IFV is painting an air target, and the driver is locking on with a laser-guided missile (LGM). The aircraft on the receiving end doesn't hear a lock or alert, and gets 1-shot by the LGM without flares doing anything to stop this.

I’ve noticed that anytime someone in the infantry fighting vehicle is using the lock on rocket and not the tow while someone paints an air vehicle the rocket will always connect and insta kill. Anytime I am in an air vehicle and pop counter measures after it says incoming the notification goes away until my flares are done and then a few seconds later the rocket still connects and insta kills me. The worst part is it doesn’t say incoming anymore and you can’t use low terrain to escape it either. It is just like how battlefield 4 was with the target designator and tow combo and it’s unavoidable. It’s very annoying because playing operation firestorm their IFV can sit in the back of the map and shoot down all our air in our own spawn because the range is also ridiculously long. I’m not sure if this is intended to be unavoidable but at least nerf the range or provide a counter measure to this please because more people will find out about this and exploit it.

Obviously this is bug. Also see jackfrags recent video.

It’s ridiculous and completely unavoidable. I was just playing firestorm and I’d take off, get locked onto, dead. While using flares. Insanely broken

Sounds amazing. The fewer 100-0 fly boys we have destroying the ground game the better.
