Hey everyone, Not sure if others have noticed this, but Infantry Fighting Vehicles can currently lock and fire on aircraft (helis/jets) with F2 gunner paint assisted laser-guided missiles — and the pilots get no lock-on warning tone. That means no flares, no alert, just a guaranteed hit if you stay in view.
It’s happening across Conquest, Escalation, and other large vehicle maps on PS5/PC/Xbox, and seems consistent every time.
This looks like a bug or unintended mechanic with how missile locks are being handled — maybe using a “soft lock” or semi-active system that bypasses aircraft countermeasure logic. Could be related to the same issue where Javelins give delayed or missing warnings to ground vehicles until missiles are airborne (often far too late).
Impact: It completely breaks air vs ground balance. Pilots have zero counterplay, and IFVs become stronger than dedicated AA vehicles. Some players are already exploiting it.
Expected behaviour: Aircraft should always get a lock-on warning from being painted/missle locked, and be able to deploy flares.
Suggestion: Make sure IFV laser-guided missiles trigger the aircraft lock warning and that countermeasure timing matches other missile systems.
Would love to see DICE/EA confirm it’s on the fix list
