Intercepting projectiles with Grenade Intercept System challenge not working.

As title says, when I place the GPDIS and it intercepts enemy projectiles and gives me xp, but doesn't give me credit towards the challenge. It is totally random if i get credit or not and it is infuriating that im forced to do a challenge that i don't like and its not even progressing.
