Mouse input stutter since launch

Mouse Input Stutter in Battlefield 6

Overview of the Issue

Many players are experiencing significant mouse input stutter in Battlefield 6, which affects gameplay despite high frame rates. This issue is not related to hardware performance, as the game runs smoothly with a controller. The stuttering occurs when using a mouse, making aiming difficult.

Causes of Mouse Stutter

Polling Rate Mismatch: The game engine appears to process mouse input at a lower polling rate (125Hz) than many gaming mice (1000Hz). This discrepancy leads to the game discarding most mouse input packets, resulting in choppy movement.

Engine-Level Bug: The stutter is attributed to an engine-level flaw carried over from previous Battlefield titles, particularly Battlefield 2042.

Solutions to Mitigate Stutter

Lower Mouse Polling Rate: Change your mouse settings to a polling rate of 125Hz using your mouse software.
Disable Overlays: Turn off overlays from applications like Discord and NVIDIA GeForce Experience to reduce conflicts.
Adjust Graphics Settings: Experiment with settings like V-Sync and G-Sync, and consider capping the frame rate to 60 FPS.
Check for Software Conflicts: Ensure no background applications are interfering with the game, especially those that modify input.

Conclusion

While these solutions can help reduce mouse input stutter, the underlying issue is a flaw in the game engine. Players are encouraged to report their experiences to help developers address the problem in future updates.

I have a great work around for anyone with a 250hz or more monitor, a 40XX or 50XX gpu and a powerful CPU like the 9800X3D. Use Nvidia app to cap the game at 250fps and set the in-game fps to uncapped, and also set DLSS frame gen to 2x. This will run the game internally at 125fps matching the 125hz mouse polling for perfect mouse smoothness. It will also interpolation 1 more frame for very smooth motion and the input lag isn't too bad. You can also just cap the game to 125fps which works great too but you still need a great CPU to hold that. I can't believe this game shipped with a bug this bad that impacts so many users. The game looks atrocious by default.
