Updating further to my previous comment. I have noticed when playing with PC and Playstation friends (I'm on Xbox), they do not seem to have this issue.
It is very sporadic, but definitely worse when I play with both Pc and PS friends. I will hear the game starts loading the new map in the back ground, such as the incidental music, but I will not load.
Sometimes a restart of the game can temporarily prevent this, but it is so sporadic it is hard to nail down a cause. I experience this at least once a session when playing cross platform with friends, but never have this issue on my own
