I FOUND A FIX!
I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my PS5 controller for Battlefield 6, but kept trying to find a way to separate the Fire Mode switching and the ADS Zeroing.
Go into Settings. Select the CONTROLLER MENU and then EDIT SETTINGS. Under INFANTRY, click on INFANTRY PASSENGER CONTROL MAPPING. Select the FIRE MODE / SCOPE ZEROING and assign a button (I used the D-PAD) to it. Then go down the list until you get to TOGGLE SCOPE. Assign this to a TOGGLE of the L3 button. This will let you control the zooming in and out (by pressing L3), and ALSO let you change FIRE MODE with another button (The D-PAD or whatever you choose).
