Playstation 5 shutdown

After 4 or 5 games of battlefield 6, my playstation will shutdown. Not go into rest mode, just completely shutdown as if the power has been disconnected. This has happened to me 4 or 5 times now and I almost went to buy a new PS5.

I've looked online and there appear to be a few reports of this occurring and as such I don't believe it is the PS5. I've completely stripped and cleaned the console and the shutdown is still happening.  In order to get the playstation back on, I have to pull the power cord out and re-insert it. After this the PS5 is fine. If i hold my hand over the vents, I can feel cool air being blown out. This would indicate that it is not overheating. This does not happen with any other game I play on the console. I've played CoD for hours without this occurring.

I rebuilt database, reinstalled BF6, it's still happening and the console isn't overheating. I can play anything else for hours without any issues.

Yep, same here. Got in touch with Sony and they advised trying to rebuild the database in safe mode, delete/reinstall game. I did all that and my PS5 has just binned out after an hours play of BF6.

Gutted! I thought it was fixed.

  • The exact same thing has started happening with me. It started as soon as my console pre downloaded the winter offensive update. It was fine the entire weekend, and started crashing the second the update hit console. As previously stated you might get a few games before the console hardcrashes mid match without warning, as if there was a power outage. You have to unplug it, and restart the console manually. I did the same steps with safe mode and it's still happening.

  • So, after rebuilding the database, clearing cache, deleting/reinstalling the game, all after a thorough strip and clean, and the game still crashing, I have tried one last thing.

I have gone into the settings, graphics options,  and swapped the performance preset from 'Performance' to 'Balanced'.

So far I've played a variety of games modes (Battle Royal, Attack &Defend, Strike point, Casual Breakthrough) and I've managed a solid 90 minutes without the PS shutting down.

Hoping this is the fix, but I am still not sure why it wouldn't work in performance mode.
