PS5 Controller turns off and glitches menu

When my controller turns off on its own, and im at the main menu, I am unable able to select anything in the menu. I try to go over to the bulletin, multi-player etc, the selection goes over for a split second, and vanishes. The menu is completely unusable. I have to restart the game to fix it.
