Recon Expert Spotting Challenge bug?

I’m grinding right now to unlock the Recon Expert outfit and badge in battlefield 6 and I’m currently up to the first part of the recon expert challenge (not expert challenge) where it asks you to earn 40k XP and to spot 300 enemies in objectives with recon gadgets. To me, that sounds like it’s telling me to use gadgets like the recon drone to spot people. Here’s the weird part, I might scan 60-70 people in one game with the drone and only about 2-3 of those scans count as a “SPOT” let alone count towards the challenge. In this clip I uploaded, you can see me literally with the drone in enemy objectives constantly scanning them. Once my drone was destroyed, I checked the challenge progression by pressing ESC, and saw that it had only gone up by 2. Could this actually be a bug or am I completely misunderstanding how spotting works? If I am, please let me know because it’s taken me 2 days at this point and I’m barely 1/4 through with that part of the challenge alone. Thank you
