I was playing a match and both my 6X sniper scope and canted red dot sight randomly showed the effect for thermal vision, where everything went dark except for players where a thermal white. Was unable to get the effect to trigger on demand or find a way to replicate, seemed to be random.
Weapon: M2010 ESR with 6X scope and 1X canted sight
Mode: Breakthrough
Map: Mirak Valley, defender side, first objective, close to B site
I had this happen when my teammate was using thermal. When he would aim my scope would go thermal as well, even my RPG
Oh good point, that didnt occur to me that it could be one of my team using the thermal at the same time.

I had this happen to me too, with the SVK + 6x scope + 2x low zoom.
I just run into this bug today.

Hardcore Breakthrough (the Friday Night Portal mode) Operation Firestorm
SV-98, 6x Optics, Rangefinder, Red Laser, Brake, Grip
It happened multiple times like this.
Peak from cover -> ADS -> Thermal Optics all of a sudden (the magnification didn't change)
It happened around in the Industrial zone, I was on the attacking team and facing the sun, so my theory was it had something to do with a sudden change of contrast (the dark Hangars vs the bright sunglare or white smoke). However I wasn't able to reproduce it.
It's happened to me as well.
I've got a couple clips of it happening. It's happened a couple more times on a different map with a different loadout, but i don't remember what that one was setup as.

32gb Ram at 3200 MT/s
on a SATA ssd
Loadout: GRT-BC , RO-M red dot, 30rnd Fast Mag, flash hider, red laser, basic barrel, and Ribbed Vertical grip
Mode: Conquest
Map: Siege of Cairo
Specifics 1: Was Holding on the A point. I was looking at the bottom right alley since enemies were going through it when it stared going on and off with the thermal sight through that red dot sight.
Specifics 2: Was holding on the A point. I was looking out the right side of it to stop the enemy team from pushing the point. After Sprinting to the place i started shooting from and aiming with that red dot it popped up briefly until I changed targets.
I ran into the bug again.
Map: Operation Firestorm, Breakthrough (same as before)
This time I used the SCAR (or whatever its Ingame name is) with a 2x Optic.
This happened with me many times, in PS5 and its happening in random maps and guns
