Vehicle destroyed on spawn, stuck in a downed state

Has only happened to me twice, but it is enough to report. I'm playing on PC through Steam.

If the vehicle you choose to respawn on gets destroyed right as you revive, you will be killed and stuck in a "downed" state waiting on a medic for revive. There is no ability to give up or respawn. 

The first time I was lucky enough to get a revive within a minute or so. This second time I died behind a breakthrough objective and after waiting 3+ minutes there was no point as my team couldn't push to me. The only option was to quit.

I only saw one other topic on this forum with about 20 upvotes, so I guess this is a "rare" issue, but nonetheless its annoying.
