Road To Glory Boundary CB archetype stops playing slot after becoming CB1/CB2
Platform: Xbox Series X/S
Mode: Road to Glory
Position: Cornerback
Archetype: Boundary
When creating a player, the Boundary CB archetype is specifically described as a corner who “mans the slot with sticky coverage while providing run support on the edge.” It is also the only CB archetype with access to Quick Jump, which fits its role as a slot defender who can blitz off the edge.
However, in Road to Glory, my Boundary CB plays in the slot while lower on the CB depth chart, CB3 and CB4, but after being promoted to CB1/CB2, he is moved to outside corner. Even in nickel and dime packages, another CB takes the slot/SLCB position.
There is no option in RTG to control the SLCB specialist depth chart, so there is no way to keep a Boundary CB in the position the archetype appears to be designed for. I’ve also tried with multiple different versions of the boundary archetype on different teams and it seems impossible to be placed as the SLCB specialist in the depth chart.
A Boundary CB should remain the primary slot/SLCB in nickel and dime packages even after becoming CB1 or CB2, while still being able to play outside when the defensive personnel package calls for it. This was normal in cfb 26 road to glory, so I’m unsure why it doesn’t work correctly now. I’m also aware that in real life, boundary corners usually will line up outside on the short side of the field, but there should be a specified slot corner position in the game and boundary seems to be it.
