In the Road to Playoffs game mode, the matchmaking system fails to respect the user's selected team tier. Players selecting a Tier 5 team are consistently paired against opponents using Tier 1 or Tier 2 teams, regardless of the tier filters or preferences set prior to matchmaking. This results in severe competitive imbalance and bypasses intended tier-based matchmaking constraints.
I have played so many playoff games in all the of the games (25,26,27) and not once did I play a team outside of my tier until this latest update. Prior, I was always matched against same tier for playoffs and championship game.
I did get playing same team I'm using on occasion though.
The matchmaking was so much better prior to this update and now it's broken.
Why use lower tier teams if no incentive to do so and get punished?
The Tier filtering feature in RTCFP has always only applied to the regular season. This was true in 25 and 26. It has never been applied to the playoffs. When you play your playoff games, you'll notice, you can't set the tier level to play against.
EA you created incentives to use a lower team and have a tier selection in the game that doesn’t work. Fix it I paid a lot for this game and it’s completely broken
Can confirm this is absolutely happening. Just ruined my playoffs, as I was a tier 3 team playing a tier 1 in playoff match up. Ruined the experience and no fun until fixed.
