With the ers, i would have it set to medium on the straights and none through the corners. The AI, from my experience, are using around 15-20% of their battery on the straights.
for fuel, try shifting gears earlier or using a higher gear in the corners (e,g. Using 3rd gear for a corner where you would use 2nd)
