When I start a 2 player career I can't manage the R&D. My friend can do it but he doesn't like to do it. If he starts the co-op it doesn't change. Is there a way to make myself the leader (I started the 2 player career but can't manage the R&D, my friend can)

I have the higher rating so that is weird
Only the lead driver can do R&D. So if your friend has a higher Rating, only they get to change car parts.
