F1 2025 on ps5 pro

Hi,

Just returning to PlayStation after a 15 year break. F1 the first game I tried on my new pro.

Not a great start f1 continually crashes if I am not logged in to psn at the main menu and the graphics options in the setting menu are quality and performance.

How do I get access to the ps5 pro modes? It seems as if f1 thinks I am running on a standard Ps5. I was under the impression that three modes were available including a 120hz mode?

Thanks for any help.

G

  • As far as I am aware, the PS5 Pro has two modes. Ray Tracing Mode will provide a better graphical appearance, but generally only gets 30 to 60hz depending on the game. Performance mode drops Ray Tracing and other high end graphical settings allowing the PS5 to go up to 120hz.

I believe the original PS5 had Resolution Mode instead of Ray Tracing Mode which might be why you were thinking there were three modes.

When you say the game crashes if you're not signed into PSN do you mean the game fully closes and it kicks you out to the playstation menu or is it just taking you back to the main menu of the game?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

It crashes both the game and the PlayStation operating system, causing a reboot. It does it every time without fail when a dialogue box questioning the lack of psn is not cancelled within 1 second. I don’t think it did this with the unpatched version installed from the disc.

I had read that there are three PS5 pro modes; quality, performance and resolution. I only have the option of quality and performance. There are no sub options, no mention of refresh rate, ray tracing etc. There is nothing to indicate anything specific to the pro.

It’s worth adding that at the present time I have not created a psn account. I think the game is crashing because I cannot set the PlayStation to be in an offline mode until this is done.

Granted an unusual setup not having a psn account. In my case temporary due to internet connection issues, but even then it should not cause a crash.

Scrap that it does it with an account, when signed out. I should be able to play without being signed in to psn. Needs fixed.

Unfortunately, that's not a bug, it's a requirement on Sony's end, so there isn't really anything that can be done about it.

The system crashes, reboots, generates an error report and asks for it to be sent to Sony. That’s a bug.

Accepted some games require psn connection (you can have an opinion on this), but this is the game giving the option not to, freezing, crashing the entire system and then generating an error report.

I was referring to your comment about needing to be signed in to PSN because that is unfortunately a requirement.

I don't play on PlayStation and haven't seen anyone else with this particular issue, so I can't provide any advice other than to make sure your signed into PSN before launching the game.
