Racing wheels compatibility

I've spent £450 pounds on a racing cockpit set up and wheel. I'm using the thrustmaster T248 for Xbox and having issues where the game won't auto save after a race. I've got thrustmaster looking into the problems I'm having but wondered if there is a problem in general with this game and mid range racing wheels. Unfortunately I can't afford fanatac of other high end racing wheel. I have seen numerous comments about the Logitech wheels G wheels having issues too. It's very frustrating to have to stack my racing SIM and wheel to one side whilst I am relegated back to using a game pad where the game performs perfectly after significant investment.
