This happens to me all the time, I've "learned" out of many ranked multiplayer races that I should not start a race with less than 4 players (including me). Rarely winning the race cleanly awards any points at all, I've got better results by finishing 2nd on purpose and having 1 or 2 warnings for whataver. 0 warnings also means 0 points some times. Weird asf, some developer is multiplying by 0 instead of 1 for one or more factors in the equation
