Sometimes is fatigue and player hasn't recovered from efforts shrtly before recieving the ball but it's also due to the touches of the ball theres some decelration there too that I've noticed but I try to solve that by flicking right stick as he touches the ball so the ball moves further away allowing player to raise his sprint speed but a player on the ball is always slower than one without, not sure by how much though coz it seems worse with players that don't have good first touch or dribbling ability.
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, I don’t think the flick will help much, as the player is already moving in slow motion and often can’t reach a (nearby) ball before the defender gets there. I’ve seen a Reddit thread where someone mentioned EA built in a “catch up” algorithm to the game some years ago that (artificially?) enables players on breakaways to be caught. I initially thought it sounded too much like a conspiracy, but I’m beginning to wonder because what I’m describing is NOT the dribbling player merely being slower than a defender at full sprint (which is both realistic and understandable), but, rather, this is an extreme slow down where the attacker suddenly looks like they’re running through sand. It’s the sort of thing where you’d interpret it as lag except that everything else in the game is moving at regular speed.
