Contract issues-career mode

Ok so I just started an Everton career mode from a live start point, before the Leicester match in the 1st of February and have played through to the 16th of March when Jarrad Branthwaite asked to renew his contract. I did renew his contract increasing his wage to £45,000 a week and gave him an extra 4 years extension. This was all really simple and he messaged me telling me that he was pleased as usual when you renew a contract. HOWEVER, after this I only had simmed one more day into the future when he messaged me again asking me to renew his contract when I had literally just done so. So I said I would but you can’t renew a contract with a player directly after doing so so was stuck with his current contract situation and sure enough, about 10 days later he was annoyed I had not renewed his contract and submitted a transfer request. I have tried everything to keep him at the club such as releasing him and re-signing him but it doesn’t let me do that. So basically I’m stuck here loosing one of my star players with him thinking he needs a new contract and wants to leave now instead. Please if anyone else has encountered this bug, please say so and if you managed to work around it, how. I have a save on the 16th of March, the day after the West Ham game and the day before the West Ham game, I had renewed his contract and now he wants it again.
