It has come to my attention that ea has given out free future stars academy players which can evo'd. Unfortunately when I opened the companion app my player pick wasn't there. I was wondering how this could be fixed.

Did you check in-game by logging onto PC/Console? It will be available in unassigned pile (i.e. new items in store menu)
