No transfer notifications in career mode

Title says it all really, but thought I'd try a career mode while giving myself a 14 year transfer embargo. Still able to sell/loan out players except I'm not getting notifications in the dashboard until the email from the chief executive comes through saying the offer was withdrawn due to no communication from me. I assume the embargo settings are blocking notifications but how can this game still be a complete mess 8 months after release. £70 for a game that isn't worth £7
