Critical: opponent players just standing on the side

When playing career mode (classic, offline) the opposition players only stand on the sidelines.  

In normal matches this means that only the opponent player holding ball operates normally and all other opposition players (incl. Keeper) run around close to their top end corner meaning that I can score empty nets at will

in Academy match (rush mode) the game is completely unplayable as opposition players just circle around center and don’t even start the game after a goal (empty netter) scored by me.

Happens with Nintendo Switch.
