Training camp evolution

For whatever reason, the game is coded a certain way which I deem to be faulty as to why pressing the B button on my controller to go back instead of the A button (which signals okay) cancels the evolution without me actually cancelling it myself.. I don't understand why it cancels just because I happened to click the wrong button to back out of cancellation yet it still gets cancelled regardless. This is unacceptable.
