Expired 1-Hour Auctions Remain Locked “In Auction” ~70K–75K Coin Impact
- Product: Madden NFL 27
- Platform: Microsoft Xbox Series X
- Console generation: Xbox Series X
- Gamertag: TheKingVitamin1
- Issue type: Bug
- Mode: Ultimate Team
- Affected area: Auction House / Item Binder
- Frequency: Every attempt tested — 3 out of 3
- First observed: Overnight into August 21, 2026
- Most recent occurrence: August 22, 2026, at approximately 1:00 PM EDT
- Status: Ongoing at the time of posting
BUG SUMMARY: Player items listed on the Auction House for a 1-hour duration are not becoming available when the listings expire without a sale.
After the auction ends:
- The item stays in My Auctions and when I click it, it says the auction has ended but upon returning to my binder, it still says the card is in auction in my item binder
- Every action remains disabled for said card
- The item cannot be re-listed, added to a lineup, submitted to a set, or quicksold.
- The item eventually unlocks without intervention, but only after remaining inaccessible for several hours beyond the selected listing duration.
- The sales price for each card had diminished at the time of card return
This has occurred on three separate 1-hour listings across roughly 48 hours, producing a 100% reproduction rate in my testing of cards with higher value.
No bids were placed during the affected listings, and no coins were credited from the original auctions.
Every affected item has been a relatively high-value player card. I have not tested lower-value items, so I cannot determine whether the trigger is:
- The 1-hour listing duration;
- The item’s value tier; or
- A combination of both
Occurrence log
1. 85 OVR Cam Skattebo — ~430a.m. August 21
- Listed for 1 hour at approximately 4:30am EDT.
- The auction expired without a sale.
- The card remained marked “In Auction” for several hours following 1 hour listing time. Also, the card wasn't actually in auction still.
- Once the card finally unlocked, I re-listed it manually
- It ultimately sold for approximately 10,000-20,000 coins less than its market value around the time of the original listing.
2. 85 OVR Aaron Rodgers — Overnight into August 22
- Listed for 1 hour at approximately midnight EDT.
- The auction expired without a sale.
- The card remained locked through the following morning.
- It was absent from the active-auctions list but still marked “In Auction” in the binder.
- After it eventually unlocked, I re-listed it.
- It sold for approximately 50,000 coins less than its market value around the time of the original listing.
3. 82 OVR Chase Young — August 22 at approximately 1:00 PM EDT
- Listed for 1 hour.
- The auction expired without a sale.
- The item remained marked “In Auction” and inaccessible at the time this report was prepared.
- It did not appear as an active auction.
- Its market value was approximately 70,000 coins when originally listed.
- Comparable listings subsequently dropped by approximately 10,000 to 15,000 coins while the card remained locked
Steps to reproduce
1. List a high-value player item on the Auction House.
2. Select the 1-hour listing duration.
3. Allow the listing to expire without a sale.
4. Open My Auctions.
5. Confirm that the expired item is no longer shown as active.
6. Open the Item Binder.
7. Locate the same item.
8. Observe that it remains marked “In Auction.”
9. Attempt to re-list, quicksell, add it to a lineup, or submit it to a set.
10. Observe that every action remains disabled for several hours after the auction’s stated expiration time.
---
Actual result
The auction ends, but the item’s inventory status does not update correctly.
The Auction House appears to treat the listing as expired, while the Item Binder continues to treat the card as actively listed. The item is therefore inaccessible through every available in-game action until the status eventually corrects itself.
---
Expected result
When a 1-hour auction expires without a sale, the item should immediately return to the Item Binder as an available item.
It should not remain marked “In Auction” for several additional hours after the listing has ended.

Troubleshooting performed
I have already attempted the following:
- Fully power-cycled the Xbox Series X rather than using standby;
- Cleared local saved data and persistent storage;
- Restarted the console and launched MUT from a fresh boot;
- Changed DNS settings;
- Connected through a different Wi-Fi network.
None of these actions released the affected item or prevented the issue from recurring.
Because the problem reproduced across separate sessions and network configurations—and because the auction disappears from one part of MUT while remaining active in another—the behavior appears consistent with an Auction House and Item Binder state-synchronization problem rather than a local display or connectivity issue.
---
Player impact
The problem is not limited to temporary loss of access.
MUT card prices can change quickly. When an item remains locked for several hours after an expired listing, the owner cannot re-list it while comparable prices continue to fall.
Estimated market-value impact
- Cam Skattebo: Approximately 10,000-20,000 coins in realized difference after re-listing
- Aaron Rodgers: Approximately 50,000 coins in realized difference after re-listing
- Chase Young: Approximately 10,000–15,000 coins in estimated market-value decline while inaccessible
Total estimated impact: approximately 70,000–85,000 coins.
The first two amounts reflect the difference between the approximate market value around the original listing and the later sale price after the cards became available again. The Chase Young amount reflects the observed decline in comparable listings while the card remained locked.
Unlocking an item several hours later does not reverse this impact because the affected value is lost through market movement during the period when the player cannot access or re-list the card.
There is also a broader Auction House capacity issue. Each locked item may continue occupying one of the player’s finite concurrent auction slots. A player near the slot limit could lose the ability to create additional auctions until the expired items are released.

Similar behavior in previous Madden titles
Similar Auction House and Item Binder desynchronization has reportedly occurred in earlier Madden releases:
- Madden NFL 22: Players reported ended auctions showing zero bids while the corresponding items remained indefinitely marked “In Auction.” Some users reported multiple cards frozen simultaneously. The issue was later addressed on the service side, with unresolved account-specific cases directed to support.
- Madden NFL 26: Similar reports appeared in July 2026 involving closed auctions, missing coin credits, and items remaining marked “In Auction” in the binder.
This may help identify whether the current Madden NFL 27 behavior is related to the same auction-status synchronization failure.

Requested resolution
Please:
1. Audit and release the currently locked 82 OVR Chase Young item on gamertag TheKingVitamin1, if it remains inaccessible.
2. Review the Auction House transaction and inventory-status logs for all three affected listings.
3. Correct the underlying issue so expired auctions return their items to the binder at the stated expiration time.
4. Investigate whether the trigger involves:
- The 1-hour listing duration;
- High-value items;
- Auctions that expire without bids; or
- A combination of those conditions.
5. Confirm whether any make-good or compensation process exists for measurable coin-value losses caused by items remaining inaccessible after their auctions expire. - I spend good, hard earned money on this game and a loss of at least 50,000+ coins is a lot.
I only have screenshots for cam Skattebo and Chase Young. But, I'm sure you can verify via your records that my claims are true for each, that they were all posted, held up by this error
Hey, folks
The issue with the AH was resolved by the studio team. All auctions, currencies, and content should be corrected. If any auctions were not returned or coins granted back to the account, please follow the steps on this link: How to find missing Coins, Points, Packs, and rewards in Madden NFLThanks.
