I never play with auto backwards skating on and turn it off every year. No issues until recently, playing Franchise Mode and I'll select a D defending a rush and despite trying to chase the forward down, he just starts skating backwards without holding LT. It's infuriating because it's still set to off. Happens a few times a game, intermittent bug.

They need to just get rid of auto backskate. The AI does it at the dumbest times. Behind the play? Skating backwards. About to poke check? Now 2 mins for tripping. LT is backskate and everything else should be forward permanently, especially if this "option" is going to stay broken forever.
This is still an issue. Anything ever going to get done about this? Because it's ridiculous that an in-game setting just doesn't work at all.

Going to poke a shot away.... Then defender skates backwards on his own. Why won't the setting work? It's been months.
Anyone ever going to look into this? I'm chasing down people on breakaways and forced to skate backwards. It's ridiculous.

Hey there. Which mode is this happening in? Also, just to be sure, you're talking about the player you're controlling and not the AI players?
This has been happening all year for me in be a pro. I'll be back checking chasing the player with the puck and my guy will start back skating. Please fix this issue
Yes, player I'm controlling. For me it's been in Franchise mode, it's all I play. I've never seen a setting option just not work in a game before.
