Contract extension / cap outlook bug

There is a major bug in franchise mode with the new contract extension screen. The game is using "cap outlook" when it calculates extension $ remaining.
The problem is, that this "cap outlook" is based on every single one of your contracts (so including every two-way contract on your AHL team) + its calculated with no salary cap rise.

So for example if you have 10 two-way contracts with 900k AAV on your AHL team, you will basically have 9 mil less in your cap space for next year (for signing extensions).

This is not the way it is in real life (for salary cap purpose) and I dont think this was the case in previous NHL games - two-way contracts in your AHL team shouldnt count towards salary cap.

I have some screenshots to prove it:

#1: cap space for this year is 4.725M (which is correct, based on salary cap and projected spent)

#2: cap space for next season is 7.350M (which is also corrent, based on salary cap and projected spent...)

#3: Here is the problem - new contract extension screen and extension $ remaining (which is based on cap outlook). Why it is only 2.415M (4.935M less than on previous screen)? For two reasons - reason one is because cap outlook doesnt count for salary cap rise (which is expected to be 750k in this case). And reason number two is on next two screenshots.

#4 and #5: I have only five players (well four and one goalie) under contract for next year "in the system". Problem is, the CAP OUTLOOK counts all of these players as if they are on my roster. Its the remaining 4.185M we are missing...

And this is what is wrong with the new contract extension screen in franchise mode. Thank you for your time and hopefully this can be patched ASAP.

  • OK so I have done some more testing - cap outlook for next year always accounts for full 23 man roster. So even if you are rocking 20 man roster and have 3 players you have to extend (as I was in screenshots above), the game shows you remaining cap space that accounts (projects) for 6 more players. That (+ no salary cap rise) is why there is less money available. I dont know if this was the case in previous games, but I would say it wasnt - I would bet that previously this "cap outlook" was based on MINIMUM roster size (which would make sense) and not MAXIMUM 23 man roster.

Also done testing with only 17 contracts for next year - was expecting full cap space available, but the game then just created "virtual" contracts (based on 23 man roster) and still wouldnt allow to use full cap space for extensions...

Also this part from my OP wasnt right (but cant find edit button):
"So for example if you have 10 two-way contracts with 900k AAV on your AHL team, you will basically have 9 mil less in your cap space for next year (for signing extensions)."
    > I have created more than 23 contracts for next year, but the game still counts "only" 23 of them.
