Hello,
Is there any chance this could be reviewed or adjusted? Grand Arena Championship (GAC) is arguably one of the most popular game modes in SWGOH, but the current rating squish creates some frustrating issues.
For players trying to climb the rankings, reaching the true top 10 is becoming nearly impossible. The rating squish doesn't really affect the established top players—instead, it pushes a large number of Aurodium players into Kyber 1 at the start of the season. This gives the players already at the very top a significant advantage, as they often spend the first several rounds facing opponents who don't realistically belong in K1. As a result, they're able to finish with records like 8-1 or even 9-0 much more consistently.
Meanwhile, players who are actually trying to break into the top 10 end up facing much tougher competition earlier, making it far more difficult to gain enough Skill Rating to catch up. It feels like the current system unintentionally protects the existing top players while making meaningful upward movement nearly impossible.
The current system also isn't a great experience for the players being pushed into Kyber 1. Many Aurodium players and newer Kyber players suddenly find themselves matched against opponents with significantly larger rosters, more Galactic Legends, and much deeper Datacron collections. Those matches are often decided before they even begin, which isn't fun or rewarding for either side. Instead of feeling like competitive, evenly matched battles, they can feel like unavoidable losses simply because of the rating squish.
It would be great if the rating squish or the initial matchmaking could be adjusted so that K1 more accurately reflects player skill from the start of each season. That would create a healthier competitive environment, make the climb to the top more meaningful, and provide fairer, more enjoyable matchups for everyone involved.
