Only after putting up this painting, the "enduring table", and the "on the hunt statuette", was the task/quest fulfilled. REALLY EA! Shout out to all of you in this thread who took the time to figure this out!

I also had this issue, but resolved it by clicking on the miniature ship at the top of the stairs in the Willow Creek museum.

Could only get it to work on the base game museum lot that comes with willow creek

I didn't have the original builds anymore in my save, but have put all of the above mentioned statues and clicked on "view" for all of them and speed up and then finally after some of them it ticked off..

I have this issue too. After reading crinrict’s comment I just add some objects to my museum. Objects I chose were straight from the museum items category. And the first one I tried worked. It was the sunflower painting ”Floral Revelation”.

I'm having the same issue!! The only way I got it to work was at the willow Creek museum viewing the dog statue to the left of the knight, hope this helps!

Oddly specific. Worked for me. Thanks!

I fully endorse this method: Queue actions after View, wait, SUCCESS! I stumbled into it by chance and it worked perfectly. (On a related note, the comments in this thread feel like a superstition being born.)

Placing the "On The Hunt Statuette" on "The Enduring" into my museum then viewing them completed the task and resolved the issue for me too. Thanks Trowicia for the tip!

Same issue here...no matter what I "Study" or "View" (with Emit's picture), it doesn't clear the task.
Update: I just read down the threads and before selecting "View", I shift "reset sim" and it worked this time. It wasn't the painting others used, too, so the reset seems to do something. FYI!
