The same thing happened when my household received the burglar event notification for the first time. It was somewhat a major letdown for me because last week's patch arrived during an approx. 4 1/2 day power/phone outage in my RL neighborhood.

Burglar in my game not Robin. It's some Keit Galang. Possible Robin moved in on being created with another household? Do have Game's own Neighborhood stories toggled on. But I do use Mccc also; more to solve family relationships that can't be set in CAS when all sims adults/young adults

Are you all playing on pre-patch games or did you start a new one after the patch ? Did the burglary happen as expected besides the burglar not being Robin ?
Also are you guys using mods/cc ? Which platform are you on ?

Same here. Got my first burglar, was a random sim rather than Robin Banks. Save was created pre-patch. Platform: PC via EA App. No mods/CC ever in the save. My alien sim was able to use his alien powers to get rid of the burglar as expected.

I play on PC, my save game was pre existing the patch, and I had removed and then updated my mods (I just use ui cheats and mccc)

My save game is pre-patch, and I play on PC (Dell Latitude 5520, Windows 10); and yes, I'm using mods/cc. I also backup The Sims 4 document folder on the Desktop before updating the game on Steam.

Hi ! As you all explained, your save files were created pre-patch: as it's not possible to add new NPCs to an existing save with an update (as it was for the new houses in Willow Creek or Oasis Springs, as all of that is tied to the files used to generate a new save), the games generates a random NPC to fill-in the role of the burglar.
One easy solution to fix an existing save would be to grab Robin Banks from the gallery (look for "Banks" in "Popular Now" and you might find some people uploaded her) and place her in your game. As NPCs careers (like the one used for burglars) are deleted when a Sims having one of them is played, do not install her on a lot and don't play her.
So to do it, go in Create a Sim, find Robin Banks on the gallery and select her household, then Validate and when you are in the Manage Worlds screen asking where you would like to move her in, just Cancel Moving. If you already had a burglar generated, find them in your Unplayed Households and delete them - if you don't, either this burglar and Robin Banks would be used randomly.

PC due to mods/cc. Was a game save pre-patch, game patched still played same save. updated mods asap - mccc, ui cheats, I also use Better Exceptions as it can catch more errors than MCCC often does. Otherwise, only CC I use is Costumes and some buildbuy objects; is mostly Mass Effect related ones. Waiting for the new expansion to see if the costumes break a bit further or not.
I put the Heist Havoc lot trait on, have alarm on wall too. First burglary; Burglar didn't even get to the front door before panicking - hadn't noticed the alarm triggered; looked more like they'd gotten scarred of the new puppy and kitten 😆. Second or third time, same burglar tried to steal the unbreakable fridge. Had my occult Alien Officer sim go confront, don't really have much options despite his already being a Police Officer himself. Had to use the alien power of Erase Memory to get the fridge back.
Not sure but think with the lot trait, Burglar can visit any time not just at night/midnight?
