Disappearing photos

I've been playing basegame (laptop, no mods) for the past few weeks and filling every home and community lot with pictures of milestones and memories. I noticed two weeks ago pictures randomly turn up black, most of the pics in my sims' inventory as well as most on the walls. Yesterday I had to recover my save and when I started playing again, every one of the pictures i'd taken over the past few weeks turned black. I cant say how disheartening that is as i'm a good 4 gens into my legacy gameplay.
