Since the latest update 2024-09-18 I no longer can alt+tab out of full screen mode on PC. The only way to switch windows is to completely shut down sims. Tried both the windows key and task manager but still sims was full screen on top of everything. Works with window mode still but I really don't want to play in window mode.

I have the same problem. Went back to DX9 for now.
I haven't been able to do that for a very long time. I play in Windowed Fullscreen since Seasons and I don't notice a difference between that and Fullscreen. Alt Tabbing in Windowed Fullscreen does work, at least for me.
I have exactly the same problem. And it really only appeared after the update. Before that there was no problem. So how should this problem be solved? Preferably though, I would hope that this problem would be fixed ASAP. I would like to be able to switch to the desktop side of the game without having to shut down the game.
And I have almost all the add-ons, by the way. Only a few kits and the buggy love expansion pack are unpurchased. So it's definitely not because of this latest expansion pack. But very likely just that latest update.
I am changing to DirectX9 until they figure it out.
I went back to X9 and now I can get out of the game fine. I hope they fix the X11 'cause I've heard good things about it.

Same here! It's really annoying because I like to listen to music or video essays while I play and I obviously can't do that if I can't get back to the webpage to pause/play/select a new video. 😓REALLY hoping they fix this SOON!
I have the same problem. I can't tab out of fullscreen and must shut the game down :( It worked well until I made the latest update (1st of October ) after some time away from the game.
I play in full window mode for now but I hate it. Hot keys for it is alt+enter.
I have this same issue, it's so annoying that I have to go into window mode or shut the game off completely. I usually always leave my game running so I can play whenever I have a few moments. It happened after the direct 11 update.
