Hey Sims 4!
Now that you’ve announced that Sims 4 is going to be around for a long time, I want to help you address what I think is the biggest issue in the game – for someone like me who owns all of the packs and kits. My biggest issue is how long it takes me to sort through the CAS and B/B catalogues because the color filters are inaccurate, mis-tagged, or missing major colors. I’m going to go through the entire catalogue for all packs and kits (and eventually basegame) and find the errors for you.
I also recommend adding more color tags for ambiguous colors, but not using their names, rather just a small color swatch in CAS and B/B filters. It’s really annoying when I want to find all the burgundy swatches, but sometimes they’re coded as purple, sometimes pink, and sometimes red. This happens the most with different purples and pinks.
Ambiguous colors that are sometimes mis-tagged or tagged on different basic colors across packs:
- Red-Orange (also known as scarlet, vermillion, coral, salmon and sometimes peach).
2. Orange-Yellow (also known as gold, saffron, mango, or amber).
3. Yellow-Green (also known as chartreuse or neon, sometimes olive).
4. Green-Blue (also known as cyan, turquoise, teal, or aqua).
5. Blue-Violet (also known as indigo or periwinkle).
6. Violet-Pink (also known as magenta, fuchsia, lavender, or orchid).
7. Pink-Red (also known as burgundy, wine, crimson, or maroon).
I do not expect you to add all of these ambiguous colors to your color filters. What I’m recommending is consistency (so all red-oranges are EITHER red OR orange moving forward, and all indigo are EITHER blue OR purple. However, I do strongly recommend new filters for aqua, burgundy, and magenta, because those are distinct enough and have been mis-tagged the most.
This bug report Hughes-01 entry is about CAS Items in Get To Work. I want to note that in report, all aqua items are found in the green filter. This is inconsistent with other packs, which supports the rationale for a new aqua filter.
Red Filter: In Female Adult Bottoms, there are short-shorts that are more red-orange. I think it’s fine to keep these are red as long as that rule is consistent across packs.
Green Filter: In Female Adult Tops, there are 3 tops that are more green-blue. There’s a tank top with a fade effect, a lacy tank top, and a v-neck crop top. I recommend adding these to a new AQUA filter.
Green Filter: In Male Adult Tops, there is a t-shirt with 16 squares. The main color of this shirt is green-blue. I recommend a new AQUA filter for this item.
Green Filter: In Female Adult Bottoms, there are ripped shredded shorts that are green-blue. I recommend adding this item to a new AQUA filter.
Green Filter: In Female Child Bottoms, both items are green-blue. I recommend adding both items to a new AQUA filter.
Green Filter: In Male Child Bottoms, both items are green-blue. I recommend adding both items to a new AQUA filter.
Green Filter: In Female Adult Outfits, there is a long dress with a beaded top. The skirt of this dress is green-blue. I recommend making a new AQUA filter for this item.
Purple Filter: In Female Adult Tops, there are 3 tops that are more red than violet. There’s a tank top with a fade effect, and a crop-top hoodie. I recommend adding these to a new BURGUNDY filter.
Purple Filter: In Female Child Tops, there is a cardigan sweater that is more red than violet. I recommend adding this item to a new BURGUNDY filter.
Purple Filter: In Male Child Tops, there is a cardigan sweater that is more red than violet. I recommend adding this item to a new BURGUNDY filter.
Purple Filter: In Female Adult Bottoms, there is a pair of shorts with drawstrings that is clearly more red than violet. I recommend adding these to a new BURGUNDY filter.
Purple Filter: In Female Adult Outfits, there is a long dress with a bead top. The bodice of this dress is magenta. I recommend making a new MAGENTA filter for this item.
Pink Filter: In Female Adult Tops, there are 2 problematic tops. One is a lacy tank top that is actually magenta (middle-ground between pink & purple), and one is a cardigan sweater with a diamond shape that is more coral (middle-ground between red-orange). I recommend a new MAGENTA filter for the former, and a decision being made about red-orange categorization about the latter (either red or orange is fine, but not pink, that sweater is not pink).
Pink Filter: In Male Adult Tops, there is a short-sleeved, button up shirt that is more peach. I recommend re-classifying this as either red or orange (but not pink).
Pink Filter: In Female Adult Bottoms, out of the two pairs of shorts that are not ripped, the glossy pair is actually purple (more blue-ish than pink), and the other pair with draw strings and belt loops is burgundy (more red than pink). In addition, the long pants without a belt are peach and should be classified as either red or orange (as long as it’s consisted across packs). I recommend re-classifying items #1 and #3, and making a new BURGUNDY filter for #2.
Pink Filter: In Male Adult Bottoms, there is long pants without a belt that are peach, not pink. I recommend re-classifying this item as either red or orange.
Pink Filter: In Female Adult Outfits, there is a long dress with a beaded top. The primary color in this item is MAGENTA and I recommend using a new filter for it. There is also an item with an apron which is peach. I recommend re-classifying this item as either red or orange (but not pink).
