Command & Conquer Ultimate Collection
I have The C&C Ultimate Collection and play Red Alert with Counterstrike and Aftermath virtually every day. It has worked ok since I first paid and installed it. For the last few days, when I start Red Alert from the EA App it start loading and then I get a blank screen and the PC hangs. I have to cntl/alt/del to get to Task Manager and cancel ra95.dat to get control of my PC back. It may or may not be related to the latest Windows update which was a big one. I contacted EA support chat and he suggested clearing the cache via the Start Menu, EA, App Recovery but that did not solve the problem. He suggested reverting Windows back, but this version does not allow it and a) trying could screw up my entire PC b) the problem may not be related to the Windows update anyway (talk about a hammer to crack a nut). He then told me to uninstall Red Alert and re-install it in the EA App. So, ok, I uninstalled it from the three dots in the Library (I had already tried repair and that did not work). But then there is no icon for Red Alert to re-install it. I have lost the game completely and the key that was registered to my original download!! He literally then said he couldn't help me and ended the conversation having made me uninstall the game completely. I can't even keep trying in the hope it might work as it is no longer on my PC. Incredible! EA can see I have paid and downloaded C&C Ultimate Collection already. Why can't they give me a key to download it all again or at least download Red Alert. That is the worst customer service I have ever known. Am I the only one to have this problem?C&C games - "Failed to launch game" error
Greetings, EA support told me to post here as they have no fix currently for this issue nor any other troubleshooting steps to try. (Case #207569798). Also, via the "EA error reporter" (within the EA app) I submitted a report which has the report ID: "b5282740-5a98-41a4-aa8e-f605b90ce194". I'm using Windows 10 Home (22H2 OS Build 19045.5737), fully updated, and EA app v13.437.0.5950 (94974-56e58c512c). On a local user Windows session, C&C3, C&C4 Tiberium Twilight and C&C Red Alert 3 will launch via EA app (ran as admin), but not: 1) C&C and The Covert Operations; 2) C&C Generals and Zero Hour; 3) C&C Red Alert; 4) C&C Red Alert 2; 5) C&C Renegade and; 6) C&C Tiberian Sun and Firestorm. Those six C&C games will all produce the error in the EA app: "Failed to launch game. An error occurred on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later." when attempted to be launched (as described above). These nine C&C games will launch without any problem from the EA app on the admin session. Launching straight C&C95.exe from C&C and The Covert Operation install folder on local user session, with or without admin rights, will run the game just fine in both cases, but the EA app can't launch it! EA support confirmed games should run when launched from EA app on non-admin Windows session. sfc /scannow and dism /online cleanup-image /scanhealth scans have been run. EA app cache was reset. EA app was reinstalled (CCleaner + manually deleted EA related folders in ...\AppData\local, locallow and roaming). All Microsoft Visual C++ versions are up-to-date and were repaired. Graphic driver is up-to-date. Booting with all non-Windows services disabled didn't allow games to boot. Games were repaired. Games were reinstalled (CCleaner + del local, locallow, roaming...). Both the games and EA app directories have all permissions on the local user Windows session (right-click folder > Properties > Security tab > Advanced > Permissions). Creating a new local user account on the PC and launching these six C&C games via the EA app (ran as admin) also produces the error. Fully disabling UAC on admin session sets the UAC on local user Windows session to level 3 ("Always notify me (and do not dim my desktop) when:"). Games received new entitlement. EA support said the "Failed to launch game" issue would be caused when "something in the player PC conflicts with EA app" and "services" could also be the cause. If so, what "services" needs to be running for C&C and The Covert Operations to launch? EDIT (~April 23rd 2025): I hypothesized that some of EA app's processes which are running on the admin session would not be running on the local user session and further tested which processes are running on both sessions when launching C&C and The Covert Operations and identified some differences. Of note, on local user session, launching C&C and The Covert Operations from the EA app (ran as admin) have EABackgroundService.exe launching EAGEP.exe, but that latter process fails to launch EADesktop.exe*32 as sub-process (while it succeeds on admin session) and then EAGEP.exe simply shuts down a few seconds after being launched. (Please see picture below). Also on local user session, when the EA app is running, it is missing one EACefSubProcess.exe (also see the picture below). It seems to me that the issue could lie with the EA app and not the games themselves (since the games launch fine on the admin session). EDIT (June 1st 2025): I updated the EA app today, from version v13.437.0.5950 (94974-56e58c512c) to v13.477.0.5990 (96992-a9584648e1), but the issue still persists. I submitted a new EA app error report with the ID: a110da93-add5-4572-99fd-fdba9ccd474a. Any help to get those games running on non-admin Windows session via the EA app will be much appreciated! Mike [CM Edit - Adding information from OP's separate solution thread] C&C4 - General system error - FIXED When launching C&C4 Tiberium Twilight via the EA app on local user session with EA app ran as admin, the game asks to enter the EA account login credentials. Entering the EA account credentials in the C&C4 login screen and trying to login gives the error message "General system error". (Please see the picture below). On an admin session, launching C&C4 via the EA app and entering the credentials succeeded and the game was able to launch properly. Afterwards on local user session, launching the EA app as admin and from it launching C&C4 had the process of login succeed this time. My intuition tells me that the admin session wrote the files associated with the login process and then the local user session could use them.Time for a new C&C Remaster
Hello EA Games and hello fellow C&C fans! The C&C Remastered Collection was a success for EA, both loved by gamers and also sold very well. Just this year C&C The Ultimate Collection went live on Steam and immediately got into the top 20 most popular steam titles where it held for like a month EA's surprise megadump of classic Command & Conquer games means Europe's March game sales were dominated by 25-year-old RTSes, beating WWE 2K24 and Nintendo (article by PC Gamer) It's been 4 years and complete radio silence from EA on the future of C&C as a real RTS game on PC and console, where the series belongs, no offense to mobile gamers. The demand for say a second remastered collection with Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun or Generals or who knows maybe a completely new title is there and it's real. People on the C&C communities in Reddit and Facebook still ask about it regularly although they're beginning to doubt if we'll ever see something. The release of C&C Ultimate Collection on Steam this March and the huge success it was made fans hopeful that this actually means EA has not forgotten about the series and was planning to do something with it. The guys at Petroglyph and Lemon Sky who did the first remasters have said they're willing to do it again, the community wants it, the games sell well, what more is needed? We're eagerly awaiting to hear back from EA Games as we always have been throughout the years. Regarding the issue with Conquering Collection Packages, I hope EA can separate versions and let players download the games they need individually, rather than ordering the forced download of the ontology plus DLC, because I have already purchased Red Alert 3 and started the moment before. I made a collection purchase, but I lost the traditional Chinese game language of Red Alert 3, and forced me to download Uprising Moment when I downloaded Red Alert 3. As a result, the Uprising Moment I purchased separately on Halloween always had conflicting hopes, and it also made it very troublesome for me to install the mod and map of Red Alert 3. EA can let players download and install the games they need before each version is independently restored to download and run, instead of forcing the download of the main body and DLC! How can we recreate a competitive version of Renegade and bring back the clanwars.cc feel. I feel this game thrived on small competitive games but it does not have a matchmaking setup like other games. Multiplayer in this game is just pub server with the server ranks of just points from whoring all game. i think if this game gets the right marketing matchmaking online setup with elo it could take off again. Set the game up mode to have 2v2 and 3v3 options and people can start to climb the rank ladder properly. make renegade great again and not with ren xC&C Remastered Collection - Failure our end / Fehler unsererseits (App-Start)
Hello together, I have played the game "Command & Conquer Remastered Collection" since 2021 on my win10, Intel i5 Laptop. Since last week I get the failure message "Your game failed to launch - An error on our end caused your launch to fail. Try again a little later." / "Spiel konnte nicht gestartet werden - Aufgrund eines Fehlers unsererseits ist der Start fehlgeschlagen. Bitte versuche es später erneut.". I have tried already following steps without improvement. Please give me some additional advice!
