For this tutorial i will be using this image because hey who doesn't love spongebob right? Step 1:First you will need the Sims 3 create a pattern tool which is found right on the Sims3.com site under the Free stuff tab at the top of the page. For those that use this tool for regular fabric patterns etc please read to learn new exciting things. Step 2:Find your image,it can be anything you want but make sure you save it to a place on your computer that you can find easily like your desktop.I recommend making a new folder called Pics for T-shirts etc. Step 3:Open your create a pattern tool and click on the add sticker button as shown in image below and choose wherever you saved your image and add it Step 4:Once you add it it will look like this Step 5:Using the hand tool" the picture of the hand" click on the new pic you added in the stickers area and drag it to the large square as show in this photo Step 6:Now resize your picture like shown in the photo below. You can resize by dragging out the corners of your pic and then can also move it around by dragging it.But make sure to follow the picture below this picture as a guide, I made a basic male/female t-shirt template that works on alot of Sims3 shirts for you as a guide. Basic image placement template for t-shirts*NOTE*for more advanced clothing like hats etc read advanced advice at the end. Step 7:Now match your background color to your pictures color as shown in images below.Every color is possible using the color wheel tool and it is always best to match the outer color of your image.Mine is white.Leave the image up as you have it currently after background color and after the next images i will show fast way to put in game.Yes you are done congratulations lets put it in your game. Step 8:Now i will show you a fast easy way to get the image in your game.Simply click the export button as shown in image below. No need to save or anything but make sure you remember where you put your pic as in a category like woods, metals etc,the default is fabrics and any is ok but just so you find it in game fast remember it. Step 9:Open your sims 3 launcher as shown below and click on the upload button and go to next step. Step 10:As shown below just check the box then hit the show file button. Now you will see a page as shown in picture below and all you have to do is double click the picture you made and it will install automatically. The official sims 3 plumbob loader will pop up and load it. Now start your game and go put your image on a shirt from the create a sims as usual. Here is the finished product shown on several shirts that fit with my basic template. Advanced notes next and a in game shot of shirt i just made coming up.Please dont post here yet on this topic till it is completed.7KViews1like150CommentsCustom Building Letters Tutorial,For Community/Residential.Easy Step By Step Tutorial
Are you tired of putting your creations on the exchange only to have to photoshop some letters on it to say its the "FOX DEN" club or whatever it may be??.Want to have any type style and color letters written on your community or residential lots for real??? In this tutorial I will teach you how to make your building have letters on it just like in the image below. And later as a bonus i will add a trick to make your building stand apart from the rest and add a personal flair to it. Maybe you want to show where your sim lives..yes this house is at 643 Vista Blvd in starlight shores. Or just add humor to your game like my friend Franklear1980 made seen below..lol outhouse and those signs = Step 1 First things first this is not a tutorial on how to use the create a pattern tool but we will be using it so those who already have it and know how it works go to step 2.For those that need help or want to get the create a pattern tool use the link below to learn all you need.It is a link to my personal custom shirt making thread. http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/566924.page Step 2 Find your letters. You can get them 2 ways either by searching for them online or by making your own in Any style color font type and background you want easily.Just use your paint program or similar program as long as it has letters. Then just change font size to max size and type the letter you need...See images below. Then export as usual to add them to your stickers Now get all the letter stickers needed for your project as seen below into your sticker area. Step 3 Making the pattern.First change your background to match the color you will be using because if you make a mistake the border will not show.In examples shown I will be using Lightning blue Neon letters and My tutorial diner is going to be called the SIMS 3.My background is black for the letters I am using. I am using letters like this Step 4 For this tutorial I will be stretching the letter image to fill entire center square of pattern area since I will be making a LOW type lettering area.MORE ON LOW AND HIGH LATER.But for making HIGH just stretch letter but dont make it so close to the top of the center square, the bottom stays the same but the top cant be so high to the top once you learn its not confusing trust me. Just repeat this process till you have all your letter patterns and put them into your game as usual. We are half done already go to next step Step 5 Adding your letters.Very important to remember after you follow my steps always do 1 letter at a time.Ok here we go. As seen in image above color your building as usual Step 6 Placing the letters.I cant stress this enough "ONLY DO 1 LETTER AT A TIME!!" As shown below slap a panel of the wallpaper paneling etc you used onto the spot on your building where your first letter will go as shown below. I will be using the LOW type because I want a diner with the letters above the door. The HIGH type is used for lettering beside doors and or each side of a door.It looks amazing and that is a personal preference thing so do what you like but i recommend doing my style first till you get better. As seen in image below place your first letter on the correct area of the wallpaper or panel piece you are using then color the rest to match your building.Repeat these steps tills you have all your letters in place. Congrats you are done and you have letters on your place.I will show you 2 finished product pics and then in a few minutes will teach you how to make your building POP by adding a personal touch of your own as if the letters were not enough  using the technique i just showed you COOL HUH??? but it still needs that extra something and next i will show you how.2KViews1like34CommentsMesa Grande Flora Collection (New plants and trees for your game!)

I have been asked many questions about using CAP and one that is often asked is how to make a sticker. Before beginning there are two things essential that your image alteration programme can do, it must have a transparent option for a new file and it must have an option is save as for a PNG file type. Without those available this tutorial is useless to you. I am using photoshop elements 2.0! It's ancient but does everything I need it too. Gimp is a free image editing programme and will have the options needed but my photos for this tutorial are from my geriatric photoshop. Most image manupulation programmes will have similar if not identical tools which will allow you to follow this tutorial. Click the tutorial images to see the full size version. Step 1. Chose your image carefully, I suggest an easy, strong outlined one at first. Open the image in your photo manipulation programme. Select the rectangular marquee tool and drag it over the whole of the image. Then press Ctrl C on your keyboard. this will copy the image. Step 2.Now choose “new” from the file menu. The dimensions there are the size of the "copied" image. Make it larger by at least a hundred pixels each way so you have room to add or change things. You MUST choose “Transparent”. you can use grayscale or rgb colour from the options too. Step 3.Now press Ctrl V on your keyboard, this will paste it into the new file and it will be right in the centre. Close the original version. Now go to "view" and either choose fit on screen or zoom in so you have a large clear view to work with. Step 4.Choose the magic wand tool This tool selects an area of the same colour, the options tolerance, anti-aliased and contiguous are important! 100 tolerance is usually too high and will *** off far too much from the outline, it's a case of experimentation here! anti-aliased gives a sharper edge. This is needed with CAP as an imported sticker shape always has a dark outline effect so this does not look good if it has a fade out edge. Unselect contiguous and the tool will select all of the colour range chosen throughout the whole image. When contiguous is selected the magic wand will only highlight an area of colour that is all touching but you can hold down the shift key and click on the other areas you want.. you have more control this way. On this image I'd select the background and then the bits under the ladies arm and between the bands of black hanging from her arm, etc holding down the shift key the whole time. Now you can choose "cut" from the edit menu or press Ctrl x Step 5. Now tidy up the image, as you can see my image needed a new lead placed between the dog and lady. the magic wand tool is very easy but you can lose more than you want to. You may want to experiment with the lasso tools! The polygonal lasso is far more time consuming but more precise if you have a good eye and a steady hand! There is also the magnetic lasso which is the squiggly looking icon on the right of the polygonal. Pull it along close to the edge and it will snap to it, hence the magnetic name. You can use the eraser to get rid of any left over background and the clone tool can help you repair any areas that have been eaten into too much. You can also use the pipette to get the exact colour needed and then choose a brush and paint what you need back in. There are a ton of things you can fiddle about with here to get your perfect image. play around, the undo button is your friend! lol! Step 6. Now you have a finished image use the crop tool to take away some of that extra space you gave yourself. never crop too close or in CAP you will get horrid black lines showing that you won't be able to get rid off. cropping to a square is best, it makes lining up in CAP easier and you won’t distort the image by stretching it out wrong. CAP uses 256 x 256 images at most, however I leave my stickers at a large size and CAP will convert them to the right size as it imports. I’ve found it’s visually better quality this way. Step 7. Time to save.. choose save as from the file menu.. name it (CAP will not accept anything that is over 23 characters long) You must save it as a PNG file as this will keep it as a stencil layer with no background. Now you have an stencil ready to be imported as a sticker in Create A Pattern. Now all you have to do it open CAP and click the add new sticker button, choose your image and that's it ready to be used in pattern making. Please bear in mind this is only how I do things, it may not be the right way or the best way but it’s my way. it works and I like it! Feel free to ask any questions, make suggestions, etc. I'd be happy to add a section about other aspects of using photoshop to prepare images if anyone is interested. how to make seamless backgrounds etc. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Tutorial: How to share your patterns & How to get your patterns into your gameI'm sure this was already asked
but, I want to be able to use my old already made wallpapers that I made for sims 2 in sims 3. Now I have searched the web and I have searched almost all the forums and read every tutorial out there that says use one program that you have to download, then use another program that you have to down load and then use this program cause that one doesn't have the plug in and so forth and so on. Now I have downloaded so many programs and done so many things and even have asked in a forum that chastised me for asking a question I'm sure has been asked millions of times before. And still I don't know how to do it. I am so hoping someone here does and is willing to teach me how to do it. Now I don't want to have it recolor-able and it needs to be the full 512x256 option cause it's not in sections. I just want to be able to stick it in the game and use it for the house I'm building without so much stress about having to use masks. I have Gimp, but the plug in for it won't work, says it's missing some .dll file (go figure) so I have PSCS 5 and it has the plug in that was needed for this. But how do I do this without cloning someone elses work (cause to me that's messing up someone else hard work and I hate doing that) I just want to add the finished wallpaper the way it is (512x256) into my game and that's it. No masking if possible. Please someone help me out with this? I'm desperate and going insane looking and searching for almost two days now for the answer.85Views0likes2CommentsArizona Bungalow *With CC*
Happy New Year everyone :D This is the 2nd house I made for a Christmas calendar. This version contains CC (which is why I'm making a separate thread for it, instead of posting it on my showcase thread) but I am planning on uploading a CC free version soon as well. It does not contain any EA store items, but it has items from WA, Ambitions, LN and Generations (may be required as it uses the spiral staircase, though I'm not sure.) It's a family home on a 30x20 lot. It has a master bedroom and a kids room with a crib and a bunk bed, 2 bathrooms, open planned kitchen and living area, a hobby room and outside there's a pool as well as other activities. Alright, let the pic spam begin! Ground floor Basement Layout Play tested and checked with Custard before uploading. Click Here For CC Credits This house is only available on mediafire (I'm keeping the lots in my studio CC free) and you can download it Here I hope you like it - thank you for looking! (PS! You can find my CC free lots on my showcase thread or by clicking on my sig to visit my blog.)186Views0likes21CommentsSims Manor~My new house!
