Hello everyone 🤗 . I'm beyond excited to share my first-ever big project, built on the biggest lot in Chestnut Ridge. It was so challenging and took me literally a few days to complete but I'm so proud of myself and I hope you'll love it as much as I do. I don't have all the expansion packs so I worked with what I got 😅. Also, if anyone is interested in downloading it please lmk in the comments so I might put it in the gallery.

Welcome to BNS 194: Summer Designer Showdown! “Flavors of the World” – A Multicultural Festival This month, we’re celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our Sims’ world! Your challenge is to design a multicultural summer festival—a vibrant outdoor space where Sims from all walks of life can gather, eat, dance, and connect. The Brief: Budget: None this time Lot size: 20x20 or larger. Minimum of 4 food and drink kiosks or stalls (Use any combination of in-game or cc stalls, food carts, or vendor tables. Group them by region, theme them by color, or scatter them organically—your choice!) Outdoor eating area Must include seating for at least 8 Sims and some form of shade (umbrellas, pergolas, tents, etc.) Public restrooms These can be standalone or part of a larger structure, but they must be accessible from the festival grounds. Use any world or season. Add stages, splash pads, murals, or anything else that brings your festival to life. No indoor residential spaces (this is a public venue!) Don't leave the lot mostly empty. Optional: Share the in-universe story behind your festival. Who organized the festival? Is it a long-standing community tradition or a brand-new initiative? Are there any simmering rivalries between food vendors? Did someone forget to book the mariachi band? Optional Features (for extra flair): A performance space (stage, dance floor, or busking area) Cultural decor or themed zones (e.g., lanterns, papel picado, flags, murals) A kids’ activity area (playground, splash pad, or crafts) Custom signage or banners to name your festival. If building is not your forte, but you love decorating, just let us know. We'll try to match you with an appropriate builder to create a shell for you. Everyone can experience Bayou Bijou taking shape by downloading the empty base world and installing builds as they become available. Constructive comments throughout this process are welcome, so don't be shy. Please keep an eye on the "News and Updates" post for milestones and links to new creations as they become available. You can also check out in-game Bayou Bijou Stories and Sims from players / creators. Without further ado, onto the details below and come join in the fun! CLAIMING OVERVIEW (Edit! Apr 17/25 - All lots Claimed / Reserved) Download the Bayou Bijou empty base world created by the talented Hidehi2. Take a look at the lists of available lots using the Map posts as reference (see links above). Indicate you're on board for the collab and sign up for your first claim by replying on this thread with your chosen map lot reference # (eg A8). I will update the lists with claims and add download / media links when builds are completed. Every two weeks (approx the 1st and 15th of the month) a new claiming period starting with a 'Claiming Day' post will begin. During this period, if you are now joining the collab or had a build in progress on Claiming Day, you can claim 1 lot. For ongoing participants, if all previously claimed builds are completed and link(s) submitted by Claiming Day, you may claim up to 2 lots. Edit! Effective Apr 15/25, after successfully uploading a completed cc-free build, participants may claim another lot if desired. However, max 2 claims in progress remains in place. Edit! Apr 17/25 - All lots Claimed. See the Map listings for links to completed builds. BUILDING GUIDELINES Please stay within the theme of each map area and general New Orleans, Louisiana inspiration. We highly recommend you play-test your lot before uploading to ensure no routing concerns and downloaders can enjoy your build as intended. Another recommendation is to test placement of your final version. This helps identify any potential issues (windows/tiles out of place, etc). To do this... Export your build, save your game, delete the final version, then use the exported copy in the Library to add it back into the world. Take a look around to see if anything is amiss and correct as needed. It will be useful for players if the Bayou Bijou lot address is included in your build description on the Exchange, albeit optional. Do take the time to put your best foot forward to make your build(s) shine inside and out. Just be cautious about using a ton of clutter since that can add to lag when playing. Each build will be showcased with credit in video walkthroughs on YouTube once the world is completed. Once your build is available on the Exchange, please post a reply on this thread including: Name of build / map reference and/or address / download link / cover picture / custard screenshot confirming no 3rd party custom content included. There will be a new shell to furnish and tour before March 3, 2024. I'll write it tomorrow or the next day! :) On Twitch, I hold a building tour of builds you’ve created for my challenge. I play The Sims 4 on the last Monday of every month (for now due to a shoulder and arm injury) and occasionally Stardew Valley. April room challenge: Construct a room for a circus tent house in which a prankster/jokester lives alone, he but loves to play tricks on his friends. Hashtag: #fireflyaprilfools Brief: Prankster/Jokester, Droll Trouble, has the Chief of Mischief aspiration, and will work on the Jokestar aspiration next. He’s a goofball, erratic, insider. His many friends are in his Jokes and Mischief club, which is held in his circus tent home! April 1 (April Fools day is their favorite holiday! Time to let loose with any jokes and pranks in this build! All packs and kits allowed --- last month was a very rare exception pack and kit wise. I will always tell you if there’s going to be an exception about packs or kits. Any décor style Info: From a house shell (please use the hashtag for that month which someone will make each month, please choose a room to create from that house shell. Feel free to add landscape and put activities in the yard of the house shell. For the house shell --- any size lot is fine. I was thinking of using a larger lot like a 50X50 lot. Make sure to give yourself credit for creating the house shell with a hashtag. The main areas of the house and outside landscaping/anything outside that isn’t a room could be a collab and will also be in the stream. This month, @JojoMOMSTER volunteered again to create the shell, but anyone in this challenge may add to the main areas. Then, everyone, please upload your rooms to the gallery with the hashtag: #fireflyaprilfools Room types: Kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, dining room, study, kids room, outdoor room --- or other type of room --- as long as we get each of the rooms above in the build. Of course, we may not always need a kids’ room. Also, I'll let you know how many of each room we need for the challenge. Please tell me which room you want to do as soon as possible. Something's off in strangerville, but no one's saying it out loud. The air buzzes with secrets, the neighbors act strange, and the military presence is just a little too strong for a sleepy desert town. This story follows three threads converging: A secretive base with an agenda no one's willing to explain. Gloria, a newcomer with nothing left to lose and a knack for noticing what others ignore. And Bo, a loner who came to find the truth while hiding a secret of her own. Each character is drawn here for different reasons. Some came seeking answers. Others? Planned only to pass through. But no matter the reason, they all stay... because something won't let them leave. All this unfolds across my custom Strangerville builds, and each update will reveal more of the mystery.
