How many hours have you played Sims 4?
Was taking a look at Origin and noticed I've played 2502 hours total. That's probably nowhere near how long many of you have played -- I was away from the game for about a year due to eyesight issues (bad cataracts; first one fixed last month, second one will be fixed this Thursday). So, I was just wondering how many hours some of you have invested in the game, especially those who, like me, have been playing since the base game was introduced in September 2014.2.3KViews1like63CommentsFuture Worlds or Other Planets
Is anyone playing, or have you played in the past, a future world or a world on another planet or anything like that? Please tell me about your game. Dunh Dunh Dunh! .437Views1like14CommentsHow do you celebrate birthdays?
I believe this might depend on whether you play legacy or on rotation, but even if playing a larger number of houses you might spend some time on certain families and their growing ups. I just prepared my next rotation, I always check who will have a birthday before I start the round. It's my year 223 and I'm shocked to find that half of the 23 birthdays are elders! Looks like I'll have a large number of grey haired sims ruling the future ground... Of 23 birthdays, 12 are elders, 5 young adults, 4 children and just 1 sim will become a teenager. I normally bake the cake (is there any other way?), but I hardly ever decorate and invite for a party. I normally don't give the sim birthday gifts either, but I love spending some time adjusting looks, clothes and think a bit over what interests and goals this person should have. I plan outfits and might give them a new hairstyle (normally not), plan hobbies, education/skills, dreams and goals, career, and life in general. If it's an elder sim, I might rather look back, reflecting a bit over what they achieved and if there is anything more they should do, if they actually have contact with their own grown up kids and grandchildren, etc. If they need to write a testament, move to smaller accommodation, retire, etc. So they all get some extra attention, just not necessary a grand party. How about you?1.7KViews1like33CommentsCan I make my Sim a descendant of Guidry?
I've decided to make some family for my Sims upcoming wedding and to flesh things out in general (unintended pun somewhere there, considering... ?) Anyway, the story I have in my head is that my Sim/s inherited their haunted house in Forgotten Hollow. I put pictures up on the wall, including one of Guidry as if he once lived in said house. So basically, I want to make a Sim as mother to my existing Sim and I want that new mother Sim to be the daughter of Guidry. I figure daughter is heaps easier than granddaughter and grandpa Guidry will do nicely... Problem is Guidry isn't in Manage Households in order to take him to CAS and play with genetics. I DO have MCCC to help... Can it be done??479Views1like8CommentsVlad Returns 🦇
It had been a while, since reign in Forgotten Hollow had changed and new occult family had occupied Vlads old lot for their own huge mansion. But the family had promised Vlad a nice little lot in the town, which would have good views to his fabulous statue. Vlad didn't really even mind, for he had always felt like his mansion was too big for his needs and he wanted to explore world a bit for new necks and such, while new one was being built. But now that the town and his new smaller mansion was all built up, he was excited to move back in. Looking at town from his new balcony, he could tell it had changed a lot. For one there was new necks in town. ''Such beauty, such grace, what a lovely neck.'' Vlad thought to himself. Vlad: I wonder if i could charm that lady Vlad: Perhaps, Perhaps not But it was time for welcome wagon to show up. Vlad in his head: Necks at my door? Well of course come in! (Oops Catherine might have heard your thoughts man) She was about to run away but then gathered herself and went to make some cookies. in hopes she could shove those into Vlads face instead. Meanwhile Vlad was getting to know his other neighbors. Vlad: so you're Mortimer?' Vlad: I didn't think you'd have such stunning mustache its like art piece! Mortimer: Thats kindest thing anyone has ever said to me! Both being chess men, they also played a game. Failed to see who won though, for there was also this lady. Olive and Mortimer were really hitting it off. Actually quite so, everyone else was having hard time getting a word in. Candy: Hi I'm here too Vlad: Who is this young lady again? Candy: Yeah I don't even know why I'm here... At some point Vlad got annoyed at Mortimers chatter and went to play chess by himself. Candy sneaked out while everyone was blabbering, and soon after party was called quits as the noisy people left. Catherine was just happy to avoid socializing. So concluded the day of Vlads return.3.5KViews1like73CommentsWhat happened to your George Cahill? (StrangerVille)
In my game, he had a child with Lilith Pleasant, they never moved together though. Then he had a child with my Sculla Schwaini, who he married - but he refused moving in with her. She had moved to SrangerVille because she is interested in aliens, and also have a daughter who is the result of some random woohoo fun with an alien. George has an interesting back story in my save, as the plain he crash landed in StrangerVille was named after the woman of his life, but who died 27 years ago. She was Penelope Mandrake, daughter of the 4th Baron of Tartosa and married to the soon to become Count of Ticktop, Baron de Gold. But she divorced as she chose George over becoming a high nobility Countess. They married, but had no children. She died 27 years ago and George still keeps her photo in his bunker. He refuses to leave his plane, even to live with his new little family - perhaps he discovered too late that he has become step father to an alien offspring? So, I am currently preparing the Military officers to come force him to move elsewhere, for instance together with his new wife, Sculla. The land where bits of his old plane are still a landmark, is not owned by him. Not quite sure how this will end, he is 80 and it might be too late in life for big changes.805Views1like11CommentsCastle, Palace, Manor or what?
If you play royals and/or high nobility houses, your sims probably reside in spacious conditions. Such big houses often hold history and traditions, and they most likely have a proper name to reflect their status. So, I'm curious to learn how you name those huge estates? If you only play one royal family you probably have them residing a Castle. I just did some research and found that Castle would be the right name only if it is located on the countryside and has a large park. In real life many former Castles are now referred to as Palaces - simply because the surrounding village grew into a town and the old castle is no longer surrounded by open fields, as it used to be. We're of course not that realistic, but it made me think - should my Duke's big residence be named Castle, Palace, or Manor? And what's the difference between Manor and Estate, anyway? Would be cool to learn how you name your huge house(s), and perhaps some of its backstory as well. I don't play any royals, but I have 4 dukedoms (and some baronies), and their estates are all differently named (and probably categorized, too). Chateau Cavalier (pictured) is the home to Duke Aquess de Cavalier and his Duchess Claudine. The rough stone building is very rustic and the exterior not so elegant. It is shaped as a bone, was built based on older stone constructions 128 years ago. I named it "Chateau" (castle) before I was aware of the differences between a castle and a palace, but as castles normally have a big park (a palace will normally have a smaller garden), and Chateau Cavalier does indeed have the biggest and most impressive formal greenery arrangement in my entire region, so I think it might just about fit the bill. Its location is rural, too, at Cavalier Cove in Brindleton Bay. Rossie Palace is the home to Duke Jarret Ross, his wife Duchess Ribra Lynn and their 4 sons. I used to think about their home as "Rossie Castle", as it is the biggest and oldest (224 years!) of my four dukedoms' builds, but then I realized they probably have the small town pretty close, and the lot is not large enough for a major park arrangement. They have a rose garden, an apple tree garden with long traditions, and a limited patio with a pool. The location is actually outside my played region, so I'm hoping for a future pack with a suitable new world. So - I'll call it the Rossie Palace. Von Windenburg Estate is home to Duke Merlin von Windenburg. He is an elderly man with an exciting backstory but no family. The build has a 125 years long and detailed story in my game, and the duke is currently renovating it to its former state. It is not at all a castle, but I feel the Estate name seems a bit lame for a duke, but I think I'll keep it. After all the build is not extremely big, besides this family was mostly pretty much down-to-earth. The dukes von Windenburg used to reside in an old castle that was part of today's ancient ruins, but it was completely ruined during a war long ago. Finally, Meadows Penthouse (pictured), located at Fashion District in San Myshuno, is home to Duke Victus of Meadows, his wife Duchess Gloria and their daughter Lady Corva. This family used to reside at the Meadows, but one generation ago they moved into the top section of the new city Tower. I don't really have a name for it, but as it definitely is neither a castle, palace nor manor, I'll just refer to it as the Torini Penthouse or Meadows Penthouse. It's also rather new lacking the long history and traditions, allowing for a modern name. My other nobility households reside in Manors and Estates, mostly. I don't really know when a home is a Manor and when it is an Estate, so maybe that should be my next research ;) Whatever, I rarely change those old names because I like that both families and buildings have a backstory. How do you name the home of your top crest families?841Views4likes16Comments
