Coastal Roads - My New Sims 3 World!
The second beta is out. I announced the first one over on my Tumblr. I also made a separate post talking about the pride flag crosswalks I created for the world. This screenshot is of the first version of the world, but for the most part, its very similar to how it looks now. It is missing the lots that CJplays will create, that assuming nothing goes wrong will be included in the final version of the map The map requires every single expansion pack and stuff pack with the exception of Katy Perry Sweet Treats as that is is the only pack I do not own. In addition it uses the following free store objects No Tricks, Just Treats More Halloween Treats More Holiday Presents Weba Yayfoo Modern HDTV by Webbsta Industries Honeycomb Bookshelf ( I'm having trouble finding this one in the store for some reason. Hope its still available ) Let there be Sims! You can download the second version along with the first official saved game file for the world. When the final version is released, the map and the saved game file will be a separate download, but for now you will have to download them together. Please make sure you playtest the map using the saved game file. The current version of Coastal Roads will have to be installed for it to work. Make sure you delete the previous version if you had it installed on your computer I am also creating some extra lots that you will be able to download separately when the final version of the map is released, that use some premium store content. Now that that's over with, here are some additional, more up to date screenshots of what the world currently looks like. Most of the sims in the pictures below are ones that I created, but a few of them are NPC townies. You will need to load the saved game file, in order to encounter them. There will not be any graveyard ghosts in the saved game file, until the final version of the map. So what do you guys think so far? We're really excited to begin sharing with you our project to build an English country village. It started with simply an interest in creating some pretty ivy covered cottages and grew into something a bit more involved. Our village is imaginary but is largely inspired by the Cotswolds and its pretty honey gold stone. Ackney-upon-Sherne exists in current times but has rich historical roots. Its origins date back to the Saxons, who settled on the central island, and includes a Norman castle ruin on the nearby hilltop. The name for the village originates from the Saxon language and means basically oak island on the shining river. Ack = oak and Sherne (what we decided to name the river) = shining. We have a little side area that's a bit different, too - more on that below in this first post where we talk about map areas. https://i.imgur.com/D5QWKse.jpg?6 The World We wanted to find an already existing world that would fit an English landscape and in looking about realized that Riverview would do quite nicely for our project with a little tweaking. That "little tweaking" became a lot more involved and complicated than we anticipated, and we are very grateful to @Hidehi for hanging in there to make it come about. Thank you, Hidehi! Our Builds We'll all be uploading our completed lots separately to our studios for you to download, with a post about them here. Once everything is complete, the plan is to also offer a save file with the lots in place (plus a few households) that can be used in conjunction with the empty world. Content used: Almost everything! Since this is a creators' collab, we wanted to make it as flexible and fun as possible for our builders to create the impressions they sought to make (within the theme, of course). There is NO CC used, but all expansions, stuff packs (including Sweet Treats) and store content were allowed, except for the following: No expansion preorder sets, no Katy Perry content from Showtime, and no promotional items (e.g., Dr. Pepper, T-Mobile). The primary reason for the exclusions are that the person who will upload the eventual save file (suzses) does not own them and cannot obtain them at this point. Map Areas We've divided the world up into 10 maps, basically what would fit into a screenshot. Each map appears below in one of the following posts and will include under it a listing of our builds. Map 5 is the central island, where the village first began, and the area where we will begin our uploads this week. Maps 1-8 are all parts of the Cotswolds village - some older areas, some newer. Maps 9 and 10 are a little different and based on the Lake District with a little Beatrix Potter thrown in. While the Cotswolds and Lake District aren't right next door to each other in the real world, they are here in Ackney-upon-Sherne. ;) If you think you would like to contribute something to our project, please contact suzses privately by PM here on the forum, and we'll let you know what we have planned. But if you have a powerful computer (I do not, lol), our hope is that it will run smoothly. Another option to minimize the size, is to split up the world into two world saves by having two copies and editing each world to your liking. UPDATE (15th Jan, 2024): I have been working on this world on and off since 2020. I have made a lot of changes and would like to share some updates. This world will transform Sim Valley, the sims console neighborhood, into a full sims 3 world. The world will be set up how the Bustin' Out map is, as shown below. The time period takes place after the first console game, with Mom divorcing Malcom Landgraab. All sims from Bustin' Out will be available to play, as well as characters from other sims game to further flesh out the world. As shown, each Bustin' Out lot and their surrounding lots are finished. I am hoping to spend much more time on this project for I am no longer in university. I also hope to share more updates as I work on this. Please let me know what you'd like to see or any suggestions. This project is intended to be as 1:1 as The Sims 3 will allow me. So, I am aiming for an early 2000s console game aesthetics rather than realism. This is also intended to be done without relying too much on CC (my own will be included and the only other CC is the bridge used for Pixel Acres) and minimal store content. The store content used will be minimal and not required. Off the top of my head, the only store content I have used are the outdoor showers pictured on Pixel Acres, Basketball courts, the climbing wall, and the cow plant. First off, I feel like a thread like this needs to be stickied at the top of this subforum. This is clearly the main Sims forum now, so this needs to be easily accessible. Paging @SimGuruDrake to do so if you feel it's worthy!! This is the thread for posting about worlds that you have found over the years for TS3 that you know love and can't imagine ever not having in your game. They can be your worlds, worlds that you've found in other places online, whatever! Just make sure to note if the world in question also requires CC (if the CC comes packaged with the world, make note of that, too!) To start this off, I'm immediately giving a shoutout to Legacy Island III by @Rflong7. One of my absolute favorite worlds to have ever played in EVER. It's large, but contains content from every single expansion, which is perfect for me. Few, if any, routing issues. No CC necessary, just expansions! Second is Alpine County by @western077 . HUMONGOUS world that utilizes a lot of different content from different expansions. I adore it, but don't play in it very often because of its size. Comes in both populated and unpopulated forms! Says it doesn't require CC or store items, but I feel as if there were a few item replacements for some store items. Update 11/13/2021 and Update 2/6/2022 The City of Meredith Cove is a town nestled in the middle of where an alpine mountain biome and a swamp biome meet. It is home to the famous Tri Coasters Amusement Park and an extremely disturbing mystery as of late. The town is being invaded by mummies and a mysterious cult that worships the most evil entity in the sim universe seems to be involved. What are the Tragic Clown Cult's plans? Explore the town, and solve the mystery, or uncover some unrelated secrets or maybe just sit back and have fun at the amusement park, but whatever you do, watch out for mummies. Many thanks to Dandelion Sprout at Mod the Sims for their work on Mermaid's Park dive lots. NOTE: I have no plans to add dive lots to Alryne Valley myself, but it is possible to add one with modifications or build your own. Click the link to download Alryne_Valley_beta_1-2. This zip file contains only the Sims3Pack for the world of Alryne Valley. There is a Jinx - Raven Shadow rabbit hole door inside the lobby for the science facility. If you don't have (or don't want) these rabbit holes installed in your game, you may replace my science facility with the Landgraab Science Facility from Sunset Valley. Don't forget to use buydebug to remove the fishing spawners before bulldozing my lot to prepare for placing the Landgraab lot. If you have already installed a previous version of Alryne Valley in your game, you will need to uninstall it in order to install the updated version. I have included the beta version number in the world description for reference. If your world doesn't have a version number in the description, you will want to uninstall it as it is likely either the alpha or beta 1.0 version. For those who prefer not to build homes, I have also provided two save files for Alryne Valley to go with the beta 1.2 world. Alryne_Valley_Lots_Only_beta_1-2.zip contains the world with 49 of the 64 residential lots developed with either homes from the games and expansions, or my personal builds. There are 15 remaining empty residential lots. 41 community lots have also been placed with 6 remaining empty commercial lots. This save file would be ideal if you want to use your own Sims to populate the world. Alryne_Valley_Populated_beta_1-2.zip contains the above save file populated with sixteen families. Twelve households were generated by Nraas Story Progression (Flanagan, Loyd, Mann, Mauldin, McLaughlin, Proffitt, Ramirez, Reedy, Smallwood, Stein, Tyler, and Vera), and four are my creations (Amethyst, Forsythe, Random Hotties, and Three's Company). This save file would be best for those who want to just install the world and jump right into playing without a lot of preparation. Updates: There were only two changes made to this file. I replanted some floating palm trees along the coast. I've been having issues with Sims getting stuck inside the unrouteable area in the northwest corner of the map where the road ends. I checked and the unrouteable paint covers that area. I removed it and repainted it, then rebuilt the routing data. I am hoping this fixes the issue. I didn't find any other issues with the world while playing. Alryne Valley - Beta 1.1 - released 5/28/23: Alryne Valley has been upgraded to beta 1.1. There are many changes including replacing the oak trees along the coast with the original palm trees. The sims3pack and world files are each about 48MB in size. 41 commercial lots have been placed and there are six more empty community lots of different sizes available (20x30, 30x20, 30x40, 40x40, 50x50, and 60x60). Most of the rabbit hole lots come from either Sunset Valley or Riverview. I believe the rest are from the expansions. There are 64 residential lots of varying sizes (20x30, 30x20, 30x40, 40x40, 50x50, and 60x60) and NINE 64x64 lots. Three of the largest lots are located in Farmers Close, a rural area north of town. I figured if someone needs a 64x64 lot for a venue, there are plenty of lots to go around. For more information on the commercial and residential lots and their locations, please see the spoilers in the second post below. If you are a builder, this is the world for you as only one residential lot has been placed. The lakeside cabin lot costs §17,246 unfurnished and §25,571 furnished, so you may need to use the freerealestate cheat or strip the cabin bare to move a single Sim in. (I removed the majority of the windows and most of the furnishings in order for the furnished price to fall below §16,500). A couple could purchase the cabin unfurnished without cheats. Background: I created Alryne Valley specifically for the Nothing Is Free Challenge from ModtheSims. I wanted each lot to have a single rabbit hole, and I couldn't find a world that would work for this. Originally, it was created on a medium map, but I found that I couldn't block the camera from "seeing" the water beyond the mountains, so I recreated it on a large map. The occupied area would probably fit on a medium map. The valley is surrounded by hills and mountains on three sides. Sunrise Beach and Smuggler's Cove are located to the east. There are 41 lots designated for certain community buildings covering lots from any of the eleven expansions that have them. I have included the odd-sized lots for specific rabbit holes. Most of the rabbit hole lots come from either Sunset Valley or Riverview. I believe the rest are from the expansions. I have also added six empty community lots of different sizes (20x30, 30x20, 30x40, 40x40, 50x50, and 60x60). There are 63 residential lots of the same sizes as the empty community lots, as well as NINE 64x64 lots. Three of them are located in Farmers Close, a rural area. Richard and Sara Jacobs - parents of Millie Wimborne and Carson Jacobs. They live with their son Carson. Mack and Margie Dunwich - owners of Good Eats Diner and Margie's Salon. Connor and Alanna Alryne - parents of Aedan and Margie Dunwich. They live with their daughter Margie. Ole and Lena Nelson :lol: - owners of Nelson's Cafe. Evyn and Holly Wood - owners of Holly's Community Theatre. (I know, right? :smiley: ) Ethan and Bronwyne Wright - owners of Bronwyne Books and founders of the Wright Reading Room library. Gavin and Ginna Graham - established Graham's Pet Store and maintain the cat and dog parks. They run the Triple G Ranch horse ranch. I haven't really worked out relationships between the townsfolk or decided if I will have rival families. Perhaps the Alrynes and Wimbournes have started a family feud?
