San Marina is Finished and Available for Download
San Marina, a Sims 3 world I've been working on for a very long time, has been released. Download is here: Download is here: https://www.thesimsdepot.com/sims-3/downloads/worlds/san-marina/ I've attached a README.txt file below so you can get more details about the world: If you're interested, I strongly recommend running it on a machine that can handle large worlds like Boroughsburg and Los Aniegos. San Marina is huge, with 212 lots and 200 residents. The optimal settings are AMD Ryzen 5 6400 + AMD Radeon RX 6400 + SSD + 8GB. However, I was able to also get this to run on an older machine with AMD Athlon II X4 +Nvidia 1030 GT + 8GB + HDD and with all EPs installed. Some pictures:
Twilight Shores ... A Small Base Game World
This world was created just to try if I could finally manage to get EIG in CAW to respond after I installed the TS3 base game from disk and patched to 1.67. When to my utter delight it actually was successful this project started to develop a life of its own 😉 Twilight Shores is a small base game only world with no cc and no store content. All EA rabbit holes (except the Bistro) have been accommodated either in basements or on the surface. There are 19 community lots + 1 car park and 18 fully furnished homes + 3 empty building plots. It's an unpopulated town but game generated sims will move in fairly quickly. I must admit it was fun but quite a challenge to create Twilight Shores with such a limited amount of things to use. Especially the community lots feel a little boring to me ... no hot-tubs, saunas, basketball courts, pool tables, pianos, boats, no professional or barista bars not even a wedding arch and no clutter to spread around the homes 😱 But on the other hand none of the items used will be replaced by odd looking stuff like toilets on the patio if you don't have the jacuzzi in your game 😝 I thoroughly enjoyed being able to use EIG again. It makes such difference for world creators! Now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I have been successful in creating a small world that everyone can use and hopefully enjoy. 😄 Here are a few more pictures of lots that I have built for this world: Well done for having made it this far down the page. Hello, everyone. After a very long absence, I've returned to TS3. I had to take a break, due to both technical issues with my game and real life. Right now, I'm in the process of trying to push out a world I had trouble with back in 2020 called Pottersville. Coastal Roads - My New Sims 3 World!
The second beta is out. I announced the first one over on my Tumblr. I also made a separate post talking about the pride flag crosswalks I created for the world. This screenshot is of the first version of the world, but for the most part, its very similar to how it looks now. It is missing the lots that CJplays will create, that assuming nothing goes wrong will be included in the final version of the map The map requires every single expansion pack and stuff pack with the exception of Katy Perry Sweet Treats as that is is the only pack I do not own. In addition it uses the following free store objects No Tricks, Just Treats More Halloween Treats More Holiday Presents Weba Yayfoo Modern HDTV by Webbsta Industries Honeycomb Bookshelf ( I'm having trouble finding this one in the store for some reason. Hope its still available ) Let there be Sims! You can download the second version along with the first official saved game file for the world. When the final version is released, the map and the saved game file will be a separate download, but for now you will have to download them together. Please make sure you playtest the map using the saved game file. The current version of Coastal Roads will have to be installed for it to work. Make sure you delete the previous version if you had it installed on your computer I am also creating some extra lots that you will be able to download separately when the final version of the map is released, that use some premium store content. Now that that's over with, here are some additional, more up to date screenshots of what the world currently looks like. Most of the sims in the pictures below are ones that I created, but a few of them are NPC townies. You will need to load the saved game file, in order to encounter them. There will not be any graveyard ghosts in the saved game file, until the final version of the map. So what do you guys think so far? Please let me know if there is anything you like or dislike about the world and if there is anything that could be improved upon. What I did to make 'Edit in Game' work again
This is not a feedback post. I am posting this here as per puzzlezaddicts suggestion so that it can be moved later, because I had trouble posting this in the Sims 3 forum where it is really meant to be. Thanks for moving it. Before trying the method below:Note that Origin is no longer supported (pointed out by thesims1depot below), and as such using it has the potential to cause security issues. So.. proceed at your own risk... I was hoping this would be a good solution that would help. ------ So yesterday I was once again searching for a solution to see if there was something to make Edit in Game work again.. I've been desperate about that since I was forced to use the EA App.. And I found something again, in a reddit post that linked to a youtube video explaining the process in portuguese (but with english subtitles).. I wrote all about this in ablog post on my blog, so anyway... What I did: 1) Downloading and installing Origin from this link. https://taskinoz.com/origin/ 2) Making sure the EA App is not running. Opening Originwithout logging in. 3) Locating the local.xml file in My Computer/Program Data/Origin (turn on hidden files to see the folder). You may want to save a back up of this file before moving on. 4) Opening local.xml in Notepad to insert the following code (without the vulgar url as suggested in the portuguese youtube video): <Setting value="true" key="MigrationDisable" type="1"/> <Setting key="UpdateURL" value="http://someadress.com" type="10"/> <Setting key="AutoPatchGlobal" value="false" type="1"/> <Setting key="AutoUpdate" value="false" type="1"/> I inserted the code near the bottom of the file, but before the line that read </Settings> 5) Then I logged in to Origin and waited for a while for a notification telling me Sims 3 was added to the library. 6) Clicked Origin in the top left corner and disconnected to go offline. 7) Created a new directory called 'Worlds' in my Documents folder outside the regular Electronic Arts/CAW directory. 8) Opened CAW and the world file I want to edit, and chose Save As to save it in the newly created Worlds folder. Remember to delete the file path and leave only the world name before saving, or you'll just be saving in your regular folder again... 9) Closed CAW and reoponed it again to open the newly saved .world file. 10) Opened it in 'Edit in Game' and was happy that it worked. Also note, if you play the game in any other language than english, this will make your game open in English... but maybe that's a sacrifice worth making... Well, that and I noticed that the lots after saving will when viewed from a distance not load the textures, but instead use the ground texture - which means that the buildings (atleast in my town) now look like grass buildings. Not ideal, but maybe there is some solution to this as well.. (which I do not know).

You will also need to place this folder in your mods folder http://mediafire.com/folder/n9n2ffrnd56fi/trees I've decided to theme the world around one family, the builder of the Taj Mahal- Shaw Jahan and his favorite wife Mumtaz Mahal whom the Taj was built for (it is her tomb). I am playing the family as the main couple and 4 other "wives" who will also bear children to Shaw Jahan. Mumtaz had 14 children and then died in childbirth. I plan to bury the couple in the Taj Mahal eventually so that their ghosts will remain there. I have done a lot of research on india and have found it is very diverse. The focus therefore will be on the town where the Taj Mahal is located but as its Sims, i'm trying to incorporate some of the unique aspects of india life but it will be impossible to be highly accurate. I've never visited India but have always wanted to. I would love input from anyone who can bring suggestions based on personal experiences living or visiting India. This went from a small project to a large project to now I'm simplifying it a bit for ease of game-play. Leaving out Island Paradise was a dissapointment and I may put it back in later but don't want the world to be reliant upon it. I had built a lake palace that was based on the lake palace built in another town by Shaw Jahan but without boats it won't be accessible so any ideas for that are welcome. I'm going to share some screenshots of what I've done in the first 2 drafts of this world and as I continue will update. We're really excited to begin sharing with you our project to build an English country village. It started with simply an interest in creating some pretty ivy covered cottages and grew into something a bit more involved. Our village is imaginary but is largely inspired by the Cotswolds and its pretty honey gold stone. Ackney-upon-Sherne exists in current times but has rich historical roots. Its origins date back to the Saxons, who settled on the central island, and includes a Norman castle ruin on the nearby hilltop. The name for the village originates from the Saxon language and means basically oak island on the shining river. Ack = oak and Sherne (what we decided to name the river) = shining. We have a little side area that's a bit different, too - more on that below in this first post where we talk about map areas. https://i.imgur.com/D5QWKse.jpg?6 The World We wanted to find an already existing world that would fit an English landscape and in looking about realized that Riverview would do quite nicely for our project with a little tweaking. That "little tweaking" became a lot more involved and complicated than we anticipated, and we are very grateful to @Hidehi for hanging in there to make it come about. Thank you, Hidehi! Content used: Almost everything! Since this is a creators' collab, we wanted to make it as flexible and fun as possible for our builders to create the impressions they sought to make (within the theme, of course). There is NO CC used, but all expansions, stuff packs (including Sweet Treats) and store content were allowed, except for the following: No expansion preorder sets, no Katy Perry content from Showtime, and no promotional items (e.g., Dr. Pepper, T-Mobile). The primary reason for the exclusions are that the person who will upload the eventual save file (suzses) does not own them and cannot obtain them at this point. Map Areas We've divided the world up into 10 maps, basically what would fit into a screenshot. Each map appears below in one of the following posts and will include under it a listing of our builds. Map 5 is the central island, where the village first began, and the area where we will begin our uploads this week. Maps 1-8 are all parts of the Cotswolds village - some older areas, some newer. Maps 9 and 10 are a little different and based on the Lake District with a little Beatrix Potter thrown in. Need Room for Rotational Play in Sunset Valley
I realize that not many people play the Sims 3 rotationally. At least, not many people document that type of gameplay online the way they do for the Sims 2, but I'm planning quite a big undertaking in my own personal game. I have added several families (including plans for new businesses / community lots) to Sunset Valley and plan to play them all in rotation Sims 2 style using NRAAS and other mods. However, I need room for the extra families and the expansion of descendants over time, and unfortunately there's no option to add more space via subhoods like there is in Sims 2. All that to say, does anyone have ideas / techniques (probably using create a world to modify the map I guess?) to expand Sunset Valley with more residential lots in a way that feels organic and keeps most of the premade houses intact? P.S. ~ I know it might sound like if I like Sims 2 style rotational play then I would be better off playing that game, but I love so many things about the Sims 3 like the traits, customization, and open world detail, so I feel like I could better tell my sims' stories the way I want in that game, even if it takes some tweaking to get it working the way I need it to.
