Capital Games TeamI will never do this promo again. I got the gift cards at Target. I tried redeeming them after I got back home. They didn't work. The message said this card has $0 on it. I thought, no big deal. I will just go back to Target. Nope! Target said I had to go to Apple. So, I called Apple. They had me go to a secure site of theirs to send them pictures of the gift cards. I did.
Today, I finally heard back from them, and I had to do the same process again, and I will have to wait another 10 days. Keep in mind, I didn't want to miss out on this Apple Gift Card promo, so like an idiot, I went back to Target and bought more. I guess I was being naive, thinking that EA or Apple would make things right. One card worked fine. The other card didn't. So, I call up EA this time. They told me that Apple had to fix it. So, I called Apple, who told me that EA had to fix it. I have done this back and forth several times between EA and Apple.
At one point, I was messaging someone through the EA website, and after quite a while, they said I had to chat with them via the in-game chat for security reasons. Someone from the in-game chat told me to go back to the website. I kid you not. It was almost kind of funny.
So, it doesn't look like I will be getting the promo on that account and will have to wait for someone to reach back out from Apple.
I have always been the biggest supporter of SWGOH. Never complained about the obvious money grabs. I never understood the FTP thing. I felt good about supporting a game that I really enjoy. Not anymore.
So, if you feel like trying the promo. Know that if something goes wrong. EA will not be there to help you.
Update: Apple just got back to me, and they told me there is nothing they can do about the gift cards that I had bought with $0 on them. I have reached out to Target in hopes that they will do the right thing.
If they don't, I guess I will see if I can find an attorney who is willing to take on Apple/Capitol Games/ Target for false advertising.
