Hello Holotable Heroes,

With the upcoming Client Update, we will be adding a new item to SWGOH: Focused Datacrons. In response to community feedback regarding the variable nature of Datacrons, we wanted to provide an alternative system that has no chance mechanics. These Focused Datacrons offer linear progression, ensuring that each upgrade provides the precise benefits displayed.

While the cost of upgrading will be higher than normal Datacrons, you’ll be able to see exactly what you’re going to get, which we hope will allow you to determine how deep into the Datacron you want to go. This is similar to the “bespoke” Datacrons we occasionally reward from Marquee events, but they are not fully upgraded when acquired.

In addition, these Focused Datacrons, (which we’ve been calling FDCs for short,) will be designed to bolster squad compositions that may not be already supported by existing Datacron sets. Meaning we will have the ability to have more creative freedom of whom we want to build these around, and with the ability to have multiple Bonus Mechanics for characters or for different factions on a single FDC, there’s the potential to shake up squad composition in ways that weren’t possible before.

Quick Facts:

  • Instead of the traditional 9 levels of a Datacron, the Focused Datacrons will go up to level 15.
  • You will be able to acquire these Focus Datacrons through the Episode Shipments.
  • Focused Datacrons are considered part of the same set as the rest of the Datacrons that are released at the same time, but have their own section in the Datacron inventory to be able to find them easily.
  • Upgrading Focused Datacrons uses the same Datacron currency and upgrade materials as the rest of their associated Datacron set.
  • Focused Datacrons cannot be dusted or re-rolled.
  • While the bespoke Datacron rewarded from our next new marquee will use the format of the standard Datacron set, we plan to have future Datacron rewards from marquees use the Focused Datacron format. (Still fully-upgraded when acquired.)

EDIT FACTS

  • Each player may only own one of each FDC released. Once they're purchased from the Episode Shipments store, you can't buy another copy of the same FDC.
  • Each FDC costs 10,000 Episode Currency to purchase from shipments.
  • You can see all of the bonus stats and modifiers on an FDC before you purchase it.
  • For this first run, we are releasing 4 FDCs. All 4 FDCs will remain in the Episode Shipments store until the next Datacron set is released.
  • FDCs have lower character requirements. For this first set the highest FDC level has a character requirement of Gear 5.

The team looks forward to you getting your hands on them and sharing your feedback.

Here are more things happening inside the Client Update:

  • Alphabetized titles and portraits (FINALLY)
  • Navigation arrows on the Datacron screen to quickly navigate to another Datacron. (As seen in the above screenshot!) [FINALLY]
  • Alert for going over Raid Currencies Cap
  • Show Episode Currency bank on Episode Track Screen
  • All Quest - Quest progress notifications will no longer go beyond 3 - Will get a SEE more button
  • The Datacron Currency cap will be raised to 100 million.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Fear inflicted by "Threads of Destiny" could cause minor blocker under specific circumstances
  • Fixed an issue where new audio added to the game is not getting updated and downloaded

Rollout of the new client will begin next week.

Be on the lookout for information on the next Era at the end of the week!

EDIT:
Question: Will I get resources back for Focused Datacrons akin to normal Datacron dismantling at the end of a sets time?

Answer: Yes

  • The ability to move between datacrons without having to exit will be great, also the alert for going over the currency cap. Some pretty good QOL changes

  • Ya'll delayed the next raid, and scrapped a legendary event for this s#!t?

  • What really happens is that CG has not been able to monetize the Episode Pass enough. The number of players buying the Episode Pass is probably not as expected, and there is a need for content linked to the Episode Pass in order to try to monetize it at the level CG had anticipated

These types of actions only serve to screw over the loyal player base that has been enjoying/suffering in the game for years, further raising their level of frustration and increasingly diminishing their gaming experience.

What about the countless issues that have been unresolved for years? ... What about the horrible matchmaking system in both GAC and TW? ... They aren't being fixed because they don't generate any financial benefits for CG

There's only 291 characters currently, the rest are ships which don't take mods. Of those I can think of about a dozen who'd want multiple mods sets, like Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker?

Of those, I'd just say to put the extra set on a random crew member you'll never use as a character squad member, so it still counts towards their ship's power.

  • The amount of acuman mk.3 currency that it takes to fully level these focused datacrons is very concerning. almost four times(around 900 when a normal one uses 190) as much as a normal one to fully level and that's after buying it with 10k episode track currency. Unless every one will turn a nobody team into a GL Killer, they don't seem worth it and even then its very very expensive resource wise. I'd rather have 4 regular datacrons maxed out over one of these new ones any day as it stands. Bad rollout. Hope they revise it next time or provide another in game way to acquire more mk.3 datacron currency. TO be clear, my main gripe is this seems geared toward end game whales with nothing else to spend on which is a very small portion of the player base. The two whales in my guild personally looked them up, thought they were cool at first, and then saw the math and said nope. Its a good idea but needs to be tuned down to be more available to more players resource wise.

  • Der Ausbau auf Stufe 15 ist viel zu teuer macht das Material sammel bar an Schiffs Knoten oder reduziert die Preise für Materialen im Shop.

  • “Listened to the community.” You clowns are so full of crap. This was the worst idea you all have had since you added regular datacrons to the game. Get rid of this trash.
