First of all, I appreciate y’all putting so much work in to keep the game fresh, and I appreciate how well you engage with the community and use our feedback to improve the game. It really means more to this community than you know.
For this update in particular, I have a couple concerns with the relic delta concept. The first is that the purpose of this, to my knowledge, is to give an advantage to high-relic teams over low-relic teams. That sounds great, but high relic teams already do have an advantage over low relic teams because upgrading relics boosts your stats (and higher relics have access to more advanced datacrons).
My second concern is much more important. As the system stands right now, relics give a noticeable performance boost, but a difference in relic levels can still be overcome with enough skill, knowledge of the kits and matchups, and strong mods. I’m worried that exponentially boosting the relic advantage like this (stacking a stat boost on top of the relic upgrade stat boosts we already have) will topple the pretty fragile balance you have struck, and make modding and kit knowledge progressively more obsolete. I’m worried fights will just turn into “does team A hard counter team B? No? Then whoever has the higher relic levels wins”, which frankly would suck a lot of the fun and almost all of the strategy out of the game.
At the end of the day, this idea feels like it was born out of pressure from higher-ups to pump out an update rather than something the game needs, and I’m concerned that if this relic delta concept operates the way I’m thinking it might, it will destroy the ecosystem of the game.
You have a very creative and skilled team working on SWGOH. I’m not sure if I can get behind this particular idea, but y’all have done outstanding things with this game in the past and I’m looking forward to the amazing concepts you’ll develop and implement in the future.
